“Basic and adequate for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2010

Motel is older, rooms are definitely small, we had 2 doubles in the room for 2 adults and a 16 year old son who is adult sized...that along with a table, a dresser, the TV on the dresser and a stand alone closet made for a very tight fit, I couldnt imagine a fourth person in the room, you would be literally crawling over each other or flat out leaving the room to get around. Other than room size it was otherwise clean and adequate for the 45 dollar price point.

The bathroom is divided by a door with bathtub/shower and commode with sink and mirrror on other side so a second person can get ready while the other is bathing. The smallish bathtub appeared to be new and remodeled...no complaints other than this area is also very tight, you literally have to stand on/around toilet or get in the tub to close the door. Otherwise water was fine, towels were clean and overall was clean..just tight space.

Room also has a frdge which is a plus, although electric plugs are at a premium and the fridge operates by a cleverly run extension cord running off the bathroom plug which is also a GFC plug. I mention the GFCC because the circuit did pop sometime int the night and wound up cutting electricty to the fridge and also my cell phone uncharged until i noticed what happened the next day. Since this is the plug where you would use to blow dry, electric shave and such and only one plug to do this from in the bathroom sink area this is a hassle. Also this space with the sink and frdge isa lso very tight and is also where you parked the suitcases from before, so lots of tripping over one another.

The rest of the motel is on the small side (motel had to have been built in the 50's or 60's) and reasonably clean with all doors inside and little front area where the agent is and coffee...I dont think they offer continental breakfast anymore at least I didnt see any and was wanting to get back on the road. Wireless worked fiine and vending machines and washer/dryer seemed to work fine. Also it is reasonably close to some restaraunts and grocery store on the other side or down the road on Kellogg Road.

The gentleman who checked me out was an older guy with long hair (think he was management) was happy that I found the place adequate and gave me the biggest thumbs up I have seen in quite sometime. Kudo's to that for it made me smile because he looked so goofy and made the day more pleasant.

So, bottom line if you are one person, traveling overnight to Wichita, need only a bed, wireless and a bath/shower this is fine, otherwise more than 2 of you in the room and it will be a tight fit.

“IT'S CHANGED!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2009

I read all these reviews and decided to try it out anyways because the location was close to where i needed to be! We stayed in a room with two double beds and is was small, the bathrooms were remolded and where very nice. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the lobby was clean and the road construction was OVER! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone on a 5 star vaca, but if you need a clean and quiet and cheap room this is the place to stay!! I will be staying at the Econo Lodge next time my family and I are in Wichita

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2009

I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Wichita Kansas in spite of the nasty reviews. I needed a place close to the conference I was attending, something inexpensive and something that had free wifi. The Econo Lodge fit the bill, so in spite of the bad reviews, I booked a room. The only downside to staying here was the road construction. My GPS told me to turn where there was no turn, but with the help of Econo Lodge's desk clerk, I was able to find my way.
My room was very nice. It had a huge, comfortable king-sized bed; and yes, the bed was so big, it didn't leave a whole lot of floor space, but that was okay. The room included a hair dryer and a mini fridge (both bonuses in my opinion). The wifi worked fine, I was able to log into my online class. There was also a table with chairs, a chiffarobe and a fairly nice-sized tv.
The bathroom was completely new (remodeled). One reviewer claimed the bathroom was very small (and she listed the square footage). Well, the toilet and tub are in a separate room with a door. I guess that's what she was citing. The sink is outside of that room, so her assertion of a tiny bathroom is only partly true. The bathroom is fine.
The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They know they've had bad reviews and they want people to know that they have a good place to stay. I had a positive experience there and I think it is a good place to stay. I willl definitely stay there again.

“Stay Away!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

The Room was tiny and filthy! On most days they had someone come in and make the beds and take the trash out but I don't know how long it's been since that room saw a vacuum. In the time it took me to leave the shower and walk to the bed, the bottom of my feet were black. There was no pool, no elevator and no chances I'll stay at an Econo Lodge again. On top of everything, there was construction going on and it was difficult to get to the hotel. When we tried to call to find out how to get there, no one answered the phone. Just stay away!!!

“believe the reviews”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2008

this motel is as bad as the reviews, very dirty, starting with the lobby, bathrooms disgusting ( bring your own bath mat!) and room very small. This motel should be a lot cheaper for what little you get-(nothing). The one half way postitive thing I will comment on is the bed wasn't too bad but I still would not recommend.
