“BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This hotel is by far the best bang for your buck, I've stayed here atleast once a week for the past six months and I cant say enough nice things about the staff and the service. If you need a good night sleep without paying an arm and a leg for extras frills you won't use then this is the place for you, it's got a a large bed, updated bathroom, free wifi, fridge, big tv, and good breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends or family, and I'll keep coming back

“BED BUGS!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Let's just say it was a total nightmare. We were in town shopping for Christmas. Our shopping trip took a little longer than expected so we decided to use our Choice Hotel points to book a free night, needless to say its costing us about $1,000 dollars because of the disgusting BED BUGS!

My wife woke up at 3:32am because she felt like something was crawling on her. She was right! It is the travelers worst nightmare to find several bed bugs. Our baby was bitten on the neck and back and my wife was bitten on the leg. I caught one of them in a plastic cup and brought it to the front desk attendant to our disgust she was not surprised. She even went on to tell us how they've been having a bed bug problem with the same room we were staying in and another guest had brought bed bugs to her attention. We were apalled! She even stated that all they did to get rid of the bugs was throw away the bedding. No exterminator...NOTHING!

They moved us to another room where we found evidence of bed bugs behind the head board (remove the head board first and look...simply pick up and remove). We had to put every item we owned in double-bagged plastic trash bags. After speaking to the Health Department and an exterminator, experienced with bed bugs, we found out it was advised that we throw away our luggage and wash all of our clothes in 120 degrees hot water (which by the way ruins delicate items).

When we told the manager what happened he was extremely rude and acted like it was our fault and problem. He also lied to us stating, "Bed Bugs are not migratory and can't be brought home." BIG FAT LIE! If two rooms have evidence of bed bugs imagine what the whole hotel is like. Between the rude manager, dirty rooms, and bed bugs this is the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed at. Save yourself time and money and choose another place. Lazy, disgusting managers like this are why hotels have problems with bed bugs in the first place. I will commend the free Wi-Fi because we used it to research "dealing with bed bugs"!!

“Everything you need”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights. Although we had non-smoking rooms, the hallway and the rooms smelled like smoke. Not sure if this came from upstairs. Rooms were clean and bathrooms were somewhat updated. This was fine for just a place to sleep. The airconditioning and fridge were working, so what more do you expect for this price? Skip the breakfast and go to Denny's or any of the other restaurants that are close to the hotel.

“Good nights sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2011

In the past I've stayed at the Motel 6 a few blocks away but there is not any food in that area, so based on price and Denny's a couple of blocks away I choose this location.

There is also a whole lot more food about six blocks away, in and around the area shopping mall (But I didn't want to walk that far after dark)

Check in went well, room was clean and warm, water was hot ... everything I need.

Not a lot of room for large vehicles but tonight was quiet so not an issue. There were enough power outlets but I had to look. Personal pet peeve, I don't like things plugged in within a foot, really a couple of feet from the sink. This room had a power cord running from the left hand side of the sink, under the sink and to the fridge to the right of the sink.

Place seemed to be well kept up, doesn't look like a 'has been' motel. Got a great nights sleep so either it was a good bed (or I was really tired).

“Basic and adequate for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2010

Motel is older, rooms are definitely small, we had 2 doubles in the room for 2 adults and a 16 year old son who is adult sized...that along with a table, a dresser, the TV on the dresser and a stand alone closet made for a very tight fit, I couldnt imagine a fourth person in the room, you would be literally crawling over each other or flat out leaving the room to get around. Other than room size it was otherwise clean and adequate for the 45 dollar price point.

The bathroom is divided by a door with bathtub/shower and commode with sink and mirrror on other side so a second person can get ready while the other is bathing. The smallish bathtub appeared to be new and remodeled...no complaints other than this area is also very tight, you literally have to stand on/around toilet or get in the tub to close the door. Otherwise water was fine, towels were clean and overall was clean..just tight space.

Room also has a frdge which is a plus, although electric plugs are at a premium and the fridge operates by a cleverly run extension cord running off the bathroom plug which is also a GFC plug. I mention the GFCC because the circuit did pop sometime int the night and wound up cutting electricty to the fridge and also my cell phone uncharged until i noticed what happened the next day. Since this is the plug where you would use to blow dry, electric shave and such and only one plug to do this from in the bathroom sink area this is a hassle. Also this space with the sink and frdge isa lso very tight and is also where you parked the suitcases from before, so lots of tripping over one another.

The rest of the motel is on the small side (motel had to have been built in the 50's or 60's) and reasonably clean with all doors inside and little front area where the agent is and coffee...I dont think they offer continental breakfast anymore at least I didnt see any and was wanting to get back on the road. Wireless worked fiine and vending machines and washer/dryer seemed to work fine. Also it is reasonably close to some restaraunts and grocery store on the other side or down the road on Kellogg Road.

The gentleman who checked me out was an older guy with long hair (think he was management) was happy that I found the place adequate and gave me the biggest thumbs up I have seen in quite sometime. Kudo's to that for it made me smile because he looked so goofy and made the day more pleasant.

So, bottom line if you are one person, traveling overnight to Wichita, need only a bed, wireless and a bath/shower this is fine, otherwise more than 2 of you in the room and it will be a tight fit.
