First off, even if you plan on paying cash (which is evidently no longer the first and most acceptable form of payment), make sure you travel with at least two credit cards, so if something goes wrong with the first one, they have a second one to reserve any "incidental fees" you might incur. And then follow up to make sure they refund the reserved amount - because this place hasn't.
As for the property - it's dark, smells musty, the carpets in the rooms turn white socks black if you walk around in your socks, the sliding balcony doors are bolted shut, keeping you from accessing the provided balcony, and the provided amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and lotion have been 86'ed, at least in our rooms. A request at the time of reservation for additional pillows and towels went un-noticed. A request for adjoining rooms also went un-noticed. And if you haven't been provided a "please don't disturb" sign, make sure to request one from the desk, or the cleaning crew will start banging on your door at 9 a.m. on a Sunday.
I didn't check out the workout room, but the pool area needs more chairs, a better location for the towel rack (within splash distance of the pool is NOT a good idea), and maybe a safer walking surface.
This property has been a "quick getaway from the kids" for me and my wife, but in the condition it's presently in (I hear there's a makeover coming in 2012) I would really suggest you look elsewhere for the quality of stay that Courtyard by Marriott used to stand for.
