The staff are very friendly ...have stayed many times in 2011 and enjoyed every stay...

We should have been tipped off by the fact that the parking lot was the ONLY ONE in Russell, KS that was not plowed. Room was in annex facing pool (east side), and sidewalk was not shoveled. Molding ripped off dresser, exposing bent nails (2-year-old found them); single spindle holding up corner of vanity (barely bumped it and it fell on the floor); no trim in bathroom, so we could see the studs behind the toilet, ceiling tiles sagging in bathroom, orange slime holding bathtub together... horrified. We stayed long enough to use the phone book and call Days Inn in Hays, which was GREAT. Russell Inn gave us full refund w/ no pushback. Lobby looked nice--can't believe annex room was in same hotel!

I had a reservation here a month in advance for a non-smoking king bed w/ 2 adults. I arrive on my check in date to initially be given keys for a single bed room. I took my keys back to the desk & they put me into a SMOKING king bed room. I took my keys back AGAIN. They then told me, in nicer words of course, that I'll just have to deal because that's all they had.

The room smelled like smoke, the wallpaper on the walls was peeling, the paint had faded into a gross looking algae green & cold air kept seeping through the door.

Then, the next morning I started getting calls from the front desk saying I owe an additional $9 for the 'upgrade' to a king bed. I told the front desk everything I have written above & refused to pay it. I than kept getting calls almost every hour saying I still owe the money. They eventually sent a big ole' muscly dude up who also said I still owe the money. I went to front desk & vented my frustrations at her, slammed the money down, & walked out the door.

I am NEVER coming back here!

P.S. Their so called 'continental breakfast' SUCKS.

The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and newly remodeled. The bed was very comfortable. The stay was excellent for the price! You can't beat the deal :)

Only cons: The rooms facing the road get some street noise. The stairs to the second floor rooms could use some repairs..
