“I've never been treated so poorly in my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

My partner and I were driving across the country and decided to drive through Kansas to see my family in Topeka. On our way to Colorado, we got caught in a storm and decided to try and stay in a hotel. We tried a couple of hotels that were full before we happened upon the Budget Q hotel. The dead house sparrow lying by the front door should have been all the warning we needed but we were tired and it wasn't safe to drive on the highway anymore. I went inside alone to check us in and the guy that came to the front desk was in nothing but his underwear and a t-shirt. It was a little off-putting but since it was 11pm, I figured he must have been asleep. He just looked at me and rudely said "yeah?" and I said "we were looking for a room for the night." I asked him how much it was, he told me and I went outside to confer with my partner. When I went back in, the guy wasn't there anymore and a middle-aged woman in her nightgown came out. She just stared at me. I said "the fellow who was out here before was helping me" and she snapped at me "I'm the manager, what do you need?" I repeated that we were looking for a room for the night. She asked for my ID and credit card. She looked at my ID and said my first and last name in a very mocking tone (I have a traditional Mexican first and last name). It was clear this woman was being extremely racist towards me but at this point, I was too exhausted to care. We went to the room and it reeked of stale cigarettes, the decor looks like it hadn't been changed since the 1970's. I was terrified of bed bugs but was trying to keep calm. Then we saw the roaches, all over the floor, in the bathroom, everywhere. I immediately picked up our bags from the floor and we went back to the front desk. The lady came back out and snapped "what?" to us. I complained about the roaches to which she said "its that time of year." My partner said "we just want a refund, we'll find somewhere else to stay." At that point, we didn't care if we had to sleep in the tiny Honda we were driving, we just wanted to get out of there. The woman said she would void the transaction but refused to give me a receipt (I checked my bank later and she did in fact void it, I was skeptical that she actually did it).
I agree with the other comments made that this place should be condemmed. It was probably the grossest place that I've ever seen and I can't believe I was desperate enough to almost stay there. We ended up waiting out the storm in a closed gas station and found a Days Inn 20 miles down the highway that seemed like a Hilton in comparision. I wouldn't make my worst enemy stay at this place!

This motel is located in the town where my dad was born and raised. We reserved our rooms for the Quinter 2010 Alumni Reunion. In the middle of the July heat, our first room had no A/C, stained furniture, unuseable light fixtures, and the "so-called" management took absolutely no responsibility. We were told that if we didn't like it that we could just find another motel. Unfortunately, being 4 hours from home we could not make alternative arrangements and were stuck with another room that never cooled down . I will be writing the owner of this establishment in Oregon and the
Budget Franchise Group. The motel should be condemned and closed.

Very disappointed in the quality of the room. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

“Better than you'd think”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2009

For a $42 hotel room on no notice, the experience was surprisingly positive. The hotel owners were very accommodating, polite, and friendly despite my showing up with no reservation at 11 o'clock pm. The room was clean and tidy, the sheets on the bed were fresh. The heater worked well, and there was plenty of hot water in the morning.

The Q Inn is not someplace I'd try to stay on a vacation, but as a place to rest a head too tired to drive anymore, it's just fine.

“Clean and Cheap”

The rooms are clean, the bed fine, the TV works. For $45 per night you can't expect more. We've stayed here numerous times over the past four years as we travel to/from northeast Colorado to see our kids and grandkids in Kansas City.
