“Very nice and way better than previous reviews would say close to 31/2 stars.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

The previous reviews on this facility were not very good, however found that Lodge had been very much updated and the room was very clean. In addition the bad reviews were over a year old! The pool was very clear and most other travelers were really enjoying it. The room was very sound proof and the mattress was either new or not very old. The check in clerk Christina was very friendly and told me how to get around in the town and recommended good places to dine. Would say was on the best buys fro the money have experienced in years and recommend this property, unless you have to have a five star!

“WELL, IT'S A BED”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2009

I was very disappointed in general with the attitude of the staff. Their banner claimed they had Wi-FI here, which I badly needed by the time we arrived at this location. And, of course, we had already PAID IN FULL for it. We were traveling with our little 7-pound dog, and they had indicated they were pet friendly. HOWEVER, we were charged a "non-refundable pet deposit". A "non-refundable" deposit isn't a deposit at all but a FEE. We weren't told that when we made the reservation either. We were placed on the back side of the motel. The room was small and the rug filthy. Wasn't able to access the internet, which I so badly needed, so I called the office. I was informed by staff that "We don't do Wi-FI in the pet rooms!" -- and rather tersely. Hmmmm. Didn't know Fido could eat those signals. And, there was not exactly a good place to sit down and use the laptop in the office, so for the sixth day in a row, we didn't have Wi-FI as promised. I'll never pay for a motel at this class again without calling and getting them to declare what we're going to get for the money. So, no Wi-FI and it cost $10 more than we were told on the reservation that we completed online. Would NOT recommend this place nor stay here again! We'll just choose another hotel/motel when we go back through in a few months. And, I'm probably burned out on Econolodge in general.

“Unsanitary & Unsafe”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2009

If you want a room that may have smashed bugs on the wall, clogged sinks, non-working tvs, no towel service, run down premises, broken indoor latch on the room, strange odors in your room, a shower that quits in the middle of a shower and then comes back on very hot, other people checked into your room while you are gone -- then this is the place for you.

Was part of a group of families booked into this hotel for a local youth sports event. We arrived early and as we walked to our room we observed paint peeling off outside doors, backing peeled off of drapes, distasteful odors and questionable clientele. Once we were in our room, it had a strange odor, was not clean, etc. We checked out & went elsewhere at our own expense, but the rest of our group stayed as it was funded by fundraisers. The things I mentioned in the first paragraph were all experienced by these families. (One family actually was assigned 5 different rooms over three days -- two of which were already occupied -- they checked someone else in their room while they were gone -- they had their suitcases with them but had not checked out and still had the keys-- came back in evening and someone else was in their room.) The coordinator of the group was promised a nice pool, but in fact, the pool was empty and looked in disrepair. (Water was in the pool by their last day there, but they were not allowed to swim in it because of a drain issue.) The owner spoke to the coordinator several times prior to us arriving and said it would be ready while they were there, it was not.
I will not go into further detail, but know that Choice Hotels would not have approved this hotel if they saw it in this condition. This is an old motel style facility that has not been kept up.
There are lots of nicer value-priced hotels in Pittsburg -- so my advice is stay away from this unsanitary and unsafe hotel. The bright spot was the young lady that worked part time at the reservation desk. She was pleasant and apologetic but there was nothing she could do.

“Friendly staff, basic motel needs...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2009

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights with my partner. The motel is on the south edge of Pittsburg, not far from Pitt State, restaurants and cinema.

On the outside the motel looks run down and not kept up. Rooms were pretty clean; bed sheets and towels changed daily. Rooms had high speed wireless which was always available. TV had cable with many choices of channels. Doors to the room were a bit tricky to get into. Our shower broke down 2 days after check in. Staff notified but they never fixed it and never bothered to say what was going on or move us to a new room,

Staff were friendly and helpful most of the time.

The breakfast area was clean. Coffee and 'Orange' was offered as well as a choice of 2 cereals, toast, bagels, muffins or make your own waffles. Packed on the Saturday morning and they ran out of coffee. So get in early as no coffee making facilities in rooms.

Price was a little expensive for what you got, but still one of the cheaper motels in the area.

I would not want to stay here again for a long period of time. Could possibly tolerate a night or two.
