We carefully chose this hotel based on multiple excellent reviews. We arrived late, with sleeping children, and the desk clerk seemed to have difficulty finding our reservation, despite the fact that I reserved directly with Comfor,t and secured my reservation with a credit card. I suspect our reserved room was given away, therefore we were given a room that should have been kept out of service for repairs, as the hotel was completely full. The A/C was not working at all, emiting HOT dry air. The room was on the top floor, and it had been 100 degrees durring the day. I called the desk, and was informed there were no other rooms and no maintenance on duty. The desk clerk came to the room to inspect the A/C, with a small rotating fan, crusted with dead flies! We requested to be refered to another hotel, apparantly none were available. I requested another fan, the clerk returned with a large honeywell type, covered in drywall dust, which atleast circulated the HOT air. The only releif was to leave the door to the hall open, not that it latched anyway. We closed the door planning to try and rest, my hubby having an important meeting the next day. On lying on the beds in desperation for a little rest, we started to itch. Although the room appeared clean, the odor of feces became overwhelming on the bed closest to the broken AC unit as the room heated up! The heat and odor induced nausea and headaches. I ended up staying awake all night just to watch over my family, as we could not tolerate leaving the door closed. I was fearful the A/C unit might catch on fire. The outlet and plug appeared very worn. It is 6am, I have yet to speak to management, but I hope they don't charge us for this incredibly uncomfortable night. Under normal conditions, this older but nicely updated hotel would probably live up to the other reviews. Poor judgement in renting a room that should have been kept out of service made for an unsafe, unhealthy experience for our family. Lack of sleep and extreme heat exposure, paired with time lost in changing hotels, has ruined our get away. We are leaving and won't be back.

We want to thank you very much for taking time to review our property. We value our guest comments and understand that feedback from guests, in all forms, is how we can grow and improve our service and facility. For the past two weeks our region of Kansas has been in an excessive heat warning with temperatures and heat indexs well over 100 degrees and our A/C units have fallen short under these conditions. We understand how unforunate circumstances like this can impact a guest experience. We are extremely sorry for the failure of the A/C unit during your stay and for the appearance of the fans delivered to your room as they are from our maintanence department and typically utilized by staff only. I can assure you that this is not a typical guest experience. Our staff works hard to ensure all guest requests are addressed in a timely and efficient manner. Had managment been given the opportunity, we would have worked diligently to find more sutiable accommodations for you and your family, whether it be at our property or another hotel as the comfort and safety of our guests is our number one priority. We never want to make any excuses for a failure to ensure guest satisifcation as we strive to make sure that each stay goes above and beyond our guest expectation; however with the heat wave Kansas and much of the nation are experiencing we hope for some understanding and an opportunity to make it right from our guests. Again, we thank you very much for your feedback and hope we have the opportunity to address this unforunate circumstance with you.
Sincerely,
Victoria Durain
