This is a long review, so if you don't want to read it, in a nutshell...this ain't no 5 star hotel...you get what you pay for. It's mostly clean, but the decor is outdated, the service is spotty, and the employees swim in their underwear. We won't be going back...we'd rather pay a bit more and get better service.
Here's what happened...
We needed something with room for 3 (me, hubby, and 7 yr old), a kitchenette, and a pool for a 5 night stay. The other places I would normally choose were booked so since the reviews for this place seemed mostly okay and the price was right, we decided to try it.
We arrived about an hour after check-in time on Sunday to be told they had been full up the night before so weren't sure if our room was clean. The front desk asked US to check and let them know. Sure 'nuff, the room was filthy and we were then asked to vacate until the room was cleaned, plus they asked US to locate the cleaning crew. Huh???
It did not get better...they wouldn't initially give us more than 2 additional pillows to supplement the 2 very flat ones left in the room (for 3 people). We also discovered that there were dirty linens on the sofa bed late that night, so we all slept on the queen bed (with a squirmy child!) and it took two calls the next day to get clean sheets (and a bonus pillow!) after housekeeping never showed, which was blamed on me putting up the Do Not Disturb sign for about 30 minutes when my hubby was out and I wanted to shower - supposedly HK only came in the a.m. & didn't return. Not completely accurate, because the next day we didn't put up the DND sign, and HK didn't come until at least 3 in the afternoon. And though they did an adequate cleaning job, they did not replenish the almost nonexistent single roll of toilet paper, or give us more plastic or styro cups. We had to hunt down the cleaning crew and ask them for those items.
The kitchenette was barely stocked for 1 person, mostly just 1 of everything, and one dutch oven-like pan. No dish towels or soap. There were a few plastic & styro cups, which we used up quickly.
The pool was decent, though in need of some repair and completely lacking in shade in the 100+ temps (how about an umbrella!!). We'd only gotten 3 towels in our room and though a sign posted in the swimming area promised pool towels in the vending area, there were none there. Fortunately, the first day an employee in the pool area had some and he gave me one...right before he stripped to his UNDERWEAR in full view of us and proceeded to go swimming. After he was done, he did leave & then return to give me more towels. A few days later, he and another male employee again swam in their undies while we were at the pool. My hubby was less scandalized than I, and didn't think it was worth complaining about. It was a bit unnerving though, since wet cotton briefs do not hide nearly as much as swim trunks, as noted by our visiting teenage nephew, who announced "I can see their junk and everything!". lol
The wireless internet was on the fritz until Wednesday when the power flickered during a storm and apparently reset it. This was after my hubby's several calls to their tech support without result.
We didn't check out the breakfast because we were about as far from the front office as you could get and we were sure it wasn't worth the 5 minute hike in the heat.
On checkout, we were also charged a daily fee for the safe, which we never used. I wanted to contest it, but my hubby was fed up and ready to get on the road so preferred to eat the $7.50.
To quote my hubby..."This place makes me feel like I'm high maintenance!" Since we were just asking for what should be standard service, that's kind of sad!!
