“Friendly Staff and Comfortable rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2011

We were forced to stay in Ottawa, Kansas after the timing belt gave out on our car. Since the mechanic couldn't get to it until the next day we had to find a hotel to spend the night. We weren't expecting much and were greatly surprised and satisfied with our stay. The associate at the front desk was very friendly and our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The fitness room was a bit limited but still provided the means to get in a run or bike ride. The breakfast was very good with waffles, biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs, sausage, pastries and more. If by some fluke we wind up in Ottawa, Kansas again, we will definitely stay here!

“Terrible room conditions.”

Dirty carpet with need of replacement, not cleaning...ripped fabric on furniture...dirty grout/tile in bathroom. Would definitely encourage you to find a better place to stay and would definitely not recommend this place for the price! I find it hard to believe that ChoiceHotels/Comfort Inn allows them to keep their franchise!

Dark rooms that are poorly lit with inadequate florescent bulbs. VERY disappointing fitness center...equipment was old/outdated and the treadmill continually shut off without provocation or warning.

Breakfast was all you could expect from a discount chain. Ultimately, it was disappointing.

Three good things to mention...the bed was/seemed clean and the TV was somewhat new and updated. Wireless internet is also available, but seemed slow.

“Pretty good for price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

Everything was fine including front desk assistance. AC was a little loud and carpet in our room needed a shampoo. All-in-all we would stay again on our way through the area.

“Standard economy hotel, slightly worn but decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2010

Ottawa is a small town, this hotel is right near the highway from Kansas City, and next to Applebee's. The hotel was in fair shape, it could use an update, but it was not a problem. I really enjoyed their swimming pool, since it had a lot of customized features, you could tell it was built by someone with a decorative eye. My room was fine, nothing special, but adequate. Free breakfast in the morning was similar to any other economy hotel. Other than Applebee's and Pizza Hut and a few similar restaurants, we ate a Driver's Sports Cafe, which had a bit more local "atmosphere", than just the national chains. From the looks of it, there are not many other hotel options in Ottawa, this one seemed like a safe bet, and it was. The folks in town were very pleasant.

“Poor Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2008

the concept of hospitiality is not understood at this hotel. The fungus was among us in the bathroom. We complained and asked for another room but it did not happen. breakfast is cleared at 9:00 SHARP even on holidays and Saturdays. The breakfast attendant informed us at 5 til 9 we were out of luck for sausage because she would not be making more! The biscuts were frozen and we are still trying to figure out how it is possible to mess up a malted waffle, but it must be possible because the taste was so poor we could not eat it. We were looking for a room with a sofa suite much like the Country Inn and Suites and were informed this was Ottawa ,kansas so don't expect to find a hotel that offered ammenities. What a poor attitude for a charming town. Stay in Kansas City and drive through this town. The hotels are run by a few families who have quit trying. We stayed here a few years ago but this place has gone down, down, down.!

  • Disliked — mold in bathroom rude breakfast staff and lack of hospitiality
