“Great place and the price is right!”

We recently traveled to kansas for a family golf tournament and booked this hotel through expedia at $65 a night... The hotel was very clean and was pretty close to the cheapest one in town except for the scary looking knights inn that was around $40 a night. The room was quiet and the bed was comfy.... we did not make it to the pool at all so not sure how that was?? I think it was an outdoor pool? All in all great place and great value... we will be staying there next summer when we go back for the family tournament.

“Pass -- Apathetic Staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

Made reservations for 5 family members and 2 dogs, asked to be on the top floor, on an end of the hotel.

Made the reservation on line. Lesson learned: if using the La Quinta web site be sure to book the reservation and call directly to the hotel to verify.

When we arrived, the staff was cold and apathetic. They offered the Hobson ’s choice (take it or leave it… and if you leave we really don’t care). Their choice was a king bed suite with two roll-away beds… at full price.. on the first floor. We asked for a 2 queen bed room with one roll-away and the staff said it was against fire code. The staff had no problem-solving skills… no ideas… no alternatives (like a discount on two rooms).

The pool was nice although it was closed due to maintenance… for a WEEK!

The carpets in the halls were dirty.

The hotel is located on adjacent to a mall that looks like it’s suffering from recession and atrophy.

The price was relatively okay.

We walked out without staying the night. We moved on to the Baldwin Lodge and stayed in a much nicer place for half the price (even though the La Quinta staff told us that we’d “never find another hotel between Lenexa and Emporia").

“Clean affordable place to sleep”

The checking was easy and fast, no problems. As I passed the pool on the way to my room I noticed it only had about 6 inches of water, and that was gross and green so forget about the pool but most people don't actually use the pool anyway.
Next was the hallway to my room. At first I thought it I was going to be sorry I'd checked in. The hallway carpet was dirty and nasty. The baseboards had been pulled from the wall. The walls needed paint. However I soon noticed this was in the process of being repaired. They are replacing the carpets so by the time you read this it will probably be nice.
The room itself was as clean as would be expected except some prior guest put their gum on the side of the light next to the bed and it had gone unnoticed by the cleaning staff (I left a note for them). Otherwise the room was clean.
I was worried about the construction noise in the morning but there was none. I don't know when they start but as of 8AM when I left it was still quiet.
The mattress was comfortable and the pillows nice. I slept peacefully all night.
Express checkout is easy as you just leave your key card in the room and go.
I would stay here again. It was a real value for the money and all the important things to me were here. If you need a pool, find a different hotel.
There is a Denny's on the property. That's better than most hotel food.

The front desk guy very helpful. Room was clean no stains smelled clean. Ac worked Great! stayed for 2 weeks and would stay here again. Denny's in parking lot is ok but not great will fill you up. The guys standing out back. Just railroaders attending training at the NARS over at JCCC like me. Nice area out back where we had a nice BBQ.

“A little gross”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

This hotel looked okay on the web, they always do. Turns out it was pretty gross. It had that old, poorly maintained hotel smell. The doors had about 50 layers of paint on them. That was just the entrance. The room stunk of old cigarette smoke. Even though it was a non-smoking hotel, I could tell it used to be a smoking room. It was pretty dirty. I've stayed in worse for sure, but La Quinta usually takes better care of their hotels. Definitely won't stay here again. I'm no snob, but I like clean hotel rooms.
