Yes, we did book this hotel through a search engine, and basically in our zeal to save a few dollars we made the mistake of not paying attention to the almost universal bad reviews that this place has received. We stayed here for two nights. Firstly, the hotel needs to become serious about keeping bad elements off their property; we heard and saw people upto no good, in questionable attire and demeanor loitering around till the wee hours of the morning. On our first night, we spotted at least three individuals who spent almost 5-6 hours from late evening through daybreak just moving pieces of luggage from one room to another and from one wing of the building to another. We basically felt like we were witnesses to shady dealings. The next morning at about 8:30 when we went to get breakfast we found nearly nothing at all except some scraps of cereal. It is true that hotels do occasionally find it hard to manage items for these free continental breakfasts...and that is an understandable part of the deal. The four adults in our group actually did not make much of this issue at the time. We were almost rewarded for our forgiveness the next morning by the hot biscuits and larger range of items for breakfast...almost that is...before the desk clerk stopped one of us at the door as he was exiting with a plate that contained a glass of warm milk, 2 muffins and a toast (with a single pouch of butter and jam). Apparently the hotel has a policy of not allowing any food to be taken to the rooms. When we replied back by saying that such a policy seems meaningless when you run out of breakfast during the scheduled time, the clerk became all defensive and said that he would allow us to take food to our rooms after all. This entire incident left a very bitter and sad moment in our trip. Exactly how many cups and plates and plastic cutlery are people removing unnecessarily that would require such a policy. And exactly how much profit do the owners feel they are making by saving those dozen plastic plates and bowls! This incident and the related policy are actually tied in with the fact that this is NOT A SAFE neighborhood to live in. I have been to many many hotels and motels all over, and I have yet to remember even one where the policy of not removing plastic cups and bowls needs to be enforced in this fashion. Sadly, this Days Inn does not even do justice to the good name of Days Inns all across the country. We have stayed in Days Inns in small rural towns like Hays KS, in semi-urban settings like in Springfield MO and in proper urban settlements as in Memphis TN. Not one of those came close to the utter ineptitude of this place.
This hotel also has a strange room cleaning mode. On our first day, while we were up by 7:30 a.m. and actually were in our rooms (briefly going out for breakfast!) till noon, no one came by and knocked (certainly not at 8:30 a,m. as some have previously experienced it seems) and when we finally returned in the evening (9 pm), the room was still the way it was left as. We made the mistake of not trusting the other reviews (we thought every person's experience is unique)...now we can see how wrong we were. You will also clearly see this in the manager's response that will follow...defending the hotel name is one thing, but to completely disbelieve the customer and to have an attitude of 'customer is wrong' which the management of this hotel displays is unimaginable. If nothing else they should at least fix the security situation here...at the end of the day I would be more concerned about someone's life and possessions than their hurt feelings or hurt ego.
Room Tip: There are a couple of other hotels in and around that area. Just check their reviews and take a deci...

I apologize for your review. I am the female sales director and on site manager. I have Never felt my life was in danger on this property. The police patrol ALL of the hotels in the area and we have a close relationship with them.
I don't need to defend the hotel I am just stating facts that I would have been happy to discuss with you in person had you had the time to come to the front desk and share your concerns. I would have been more than happy to go over your concerns at that time.
We have been extremely busy and guests have been checking in at alll hours, that is part of the hotel business, so they come and go. We have also had large groups coming in, one group took 40 rooms and so there is lots of goings on but I assure you they were just teens and not out to hurt anyone.
The breakfast should have been refreshed and the staff have been told that this is extremely important. Again I wish you had told the management so it could have been resolved while you were here.
The housekeeping, if you have stayed in hotels much you would see no difference between ours and others. We have very good housekeeping and we stand behind their work.
As far as the reviews, well there are good ones and bad ones, just like most places.
Thanks for all of the time you took to write this review, we are always happy to have guests that take the time to let us know if and what areas we need improvement on.
