-Due to work, I was required to stay extensively at this place. Unless you have to be near the military base, there is absolutely NO REASON TO EVER STOP in Junction City, KS. EVER!!
-The food accommodations even include the worst McDonalds of all time. That's hard to top. Order a side salad and get the exact same shredded iceberg lettuce they use on a Big Mac. The only excuse, "We were out of the other stuff." This is seriously pathetic and truly representative of what you can expect in J C, KS!
-Denny's, next to the Day's Dump is horrid. Order one of the slam bam breakfasts (or whatever they are calling them these days) and see if you don't agree that the sausages were cooked at least several days before. You WILL easily wait more than an hour for a simple hamburger. DO NOT STOP here for a quick meal. I swear to you on a stack of Deluxe Gideon hotel bibles, that in only two times I ate there, I easily saw thirty people get up and walk out, because they were not being waited on for an extended period. It is truly the worst restaurant service I have ever seen, and I travel more than almost anyone. Normally Denny's is not too bad. THIS IS AN EXCEPTION!!
-But, let's talk about the Day's Dump Inn. Fortunately I didn't have to pay for it, because it is vastly overpriced for what you get, and compared to other places down the road. Take my advice. Drive on for a few miles down Interstate 70 (either direction), be closer to where you are headed, and skip this illustrious armpit of KS altogether. You will be glad you did.
-To get a little more technical, and because I was forced to stay here, we will now explore this in more detail. The first night I stayed here, I told them the toilet was not flushing properly and something as small as a Kleenex would not go down without repeated flushes. The Days Inn (Wendy) management's answer was to put a plunger in the bathroom. Yes indeed, this is what a tired hotel guest wants to do after a long day on the road, PLAY PLUMBER!! You inconsequential uneducated buffoons!! YOUR PLUMBING DOESN'T WORK!!
-The shower is equally unacceptable. You can never get the water temperature right, the water pressure is nonexistent, the drains are plugged up, and the shower head will pop right off in your hand if you make the slightest attempt at adjustment. Forget about the fact that this establishment wreaks of deferred maintenance, the bathroom just plain smells horribly of stale deodorant and rotting fecal matter. All true and accurate.
-Additionally, I guarantee you that the bed sheets ARE NOT always changed between guests. I caught them on this more than once. Imagine sleeping on the same bedding that some scroungy foul smelling traveler slept on the night before. If you like that idea, then this dump is for you. Yes indeed, if you can cut costs by not washing and changing sheets between guests, you will save tons of money. Right?
-Trust me when I say, that the spider webs and dead spiders in the corners of the walls have been there many months and at some point those spiders WERE alive, and soon again will be on the prowl, when the new eggs hatch. BET ON IT!!
-Some times the rooms are not cleaned at all. When the manager (WENDY) is confronted with this, there is never anything more than a lame brained excuse about how busy they are, and that they will get to it eventually. Yes, please allow me to sit in the lobby for a couple hours after just driving 500 miles, so I can wait to have the room cleaned "eventually."
-In the six months I had to suffer through this disgusting excuse for a hotel, I can say without question that the toilet was in fact thoroughly cleaned two times. I don't make this up. I lived it. Yes indeed germs do fester in a dirty toilet. Enticing eh?
-I could go on endlessly about this dive hotel, but I won't. If you have actually read this far and still think this is a place you would consider for yourself or your family, by all means, enjoy your stay. Just remember, even if you do stop here, sleeping is not an option. There are nonstop trains running right through Junction City, KS and they love to blow the train horns endlessly all night long. And, be sure and extend my greetings to the Junction City Days Dump manager Wendy, as she bears much of the responsibility for the intolerable accommodations. And do remember, that all spiders bite. AVOID!!AVOID!!AVOID!!
