Was going to be visiting Hutchinson Kansas in mid November 2011, so I began contacting them via telephone. I contacted the hotel direct and was immediately taken care of via the telephone, the young lady who answered the phone was able to offer me what we were looking for in a room and then offered a GREAT discount. I explained I wanted to research their location more (which meant I wanted to read the reviews, look at the pics, etc). After twenty minutes of reviewing, I was VERY pleased. I contacted the hotel direct and was this time sent to the "reservation" department, where a very angry sounding staff member was COLD and HEARTLESS (I felt like I was talking to the 1-800 reservation line). I gave the staff member the information on booking and she couldn't tell me if I was able to get the discounted rate I was quoted twenty minutes ago UNTIL she took my credit card number and then she told me she couldn't give me that rate. I then contacted the customer service line of the Hampton and shared my experience with them AND I actually got a hold of that COLD and HEARTLESS 1-800 staff member. They didn't care what kind of trouble I had been through either and wouldn't honor the lower rate. Because of this experience, I have now cancelled our trip to Hutchinson Kansas. I did call back to the local office and tried to resolve this issue and the night staff was not wanting to remedy the problem. I'm sure the hotel is a nice one and the majority of the staff is very friendly & helpful, BUT I will never get the opportunity to find out because the local night staff has ran off a Hampton Inn customer.
