“Not bad for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed at the Days Inn for one night and had a very restful sleep here - we specifically asked for a quiet room and were on the second floor overlooking the indoor pool. Good points: inexpensive rooms, heated indoor pool, buffet Chinese restaurant on property (average food), Walmart next door and rooms roomy and averagely clean. Not so good points: Hallways did smell a little funky from old smoke, basically the whole hotel needs an overall (peeling paint, carpets in hallways/stairs need vacuuming), housekeeping could be a little more vigilant with the cleaning - our toilet bowl was a little gross and needed a good scrub - I found this just before we checked out, otherwise I would've insisted someone come clean it! We had a connecting room for our two kids, and the door to that room wouldn't lock properly (neither did their tv remote or our phone) so we had to use the chain and brace a suitcase by it - we did mention this to management in the morning. Overall I would say you could do better than staying here, but you could do a lot worse. If you're really fussy about the quality/cleanliness of the rooms (the type of person to freak if you spot a dust bunny in the corner), go elsewhere. Otherwise the hotel is okay for an overnight stop.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 215 & 217, which were quiet, but needed some minor repairs.

“Good motel, but the smell of the stockyards in the area...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

The motel was fine. The staff was friendly. Breakfast didn't offer as much as most, but it isn't suppost to be IHOP.
The rooms were clean, needs updated somewhat. Would stay here againg when passing through. The area must be home to some stockyards and the smell outside in the town of Goodland was very very unpleasant.

“GROSS!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

After a long day of visiting and traveling and just coming from a very pleasant experience at a Colorado Springs Days Inn we decided to stay at the Days Inn in Goodland, Kansas. Bad decision! First the room was musty smelling. Then I noticed the bathroom counter had some soap spots on it. Ok...no big deal. Things can get missed. I tuned on the A/C to get some air moving around....a little improvement. Then I looked at the commode. There was dried urine splashed on the seat! OH....I got on the phone right away and let them know. We did get a different room which was mildly cleaner....but the event of the first room spoiled our evening and night there. It doesn't bother me to stay in a hotel that has wear and tear...but NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S BODY FLUID!

Room Tip: Look at the cleanliness of the bathroom before you start settling in!

“good bed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Good location for our travel plans, offer of breakfast and low price were the reasons we chose Days Inn at Goodland. Young woman at counter seemed new at her job so I will give her a break for not being overly friendly or efficient, took a couple of tries to get charges correct and keys to work. Room looked kind of rough from various room remodel and repair attempts but bed and bathroom were clean and well functioning and we slept well. Things took a turn for the worst in the morning when checking out the food offerings. If I can have a waffle, juice, coffee & maybe some form of fruit I'm happy. There was no obvious seating area, wafflemaker did not seem to be hot enough, drink machine dispensed some sort of yellow powder-based liquid instead of orange juice. Only other offerings were some bread slices & toaster. Man who checked us out in the morning was the same one who was folding linens behind counter late the night before so I'll give him a break for not being overly friendly if he didn't get much sleep. We headed on our way and had a wonderful breakfast at a Dennys in Limon CO.

“Already stinks”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I rarely do this because normally I try to give places the benefit of the doubt, however I have to admit that I have yet to stay at this hotel (we are scheduled to stay here tomorrow) and I have already had a miserable experience. First, I elected to book the room directly with the hotel and felt very uncomfortable after the exchange with the person at the hotel. After having to spell my name 4 times, and provide my credit card number three times, I began to get a little concerned. My next stop was to check the travel reviews online, all of which seem to be fairly horrible for this hotel. At this point, the poor traveler reviews combined with the front desk experience led me to decide to cancel the reservation.
I did not want to speak with the hotel again (they obviously don't know what they are doing), and went ahead and called the main days inn line to be sure that the reservation was cancelled (with this group, you probably never know). It took them multiple tries to find my reservation because (guess what) my name was spelled wrong in the system. After 15 minutes on the phone trying to cancel my reservation (confirmation number I was given was also incorrect), I was informed that the main days inn clerks could not cancel the reservation for me and that I would need to call the hotel directly. They could, however, add more nights and more expense to my stay from that number.
This has already been a miserable and ridiculous experience. Even if hotels are independently owned and operated, since when can you not call the main line and have all your business taken care of? I am tempted to just drive on by and dispute the charge later. Guess it will depend on how tired I really am at that point.
