Garden City is a fairly small city and not on the beaten path. This was our first visit and we had no knowledge of the ammenities available.
The Outside of the Clarion was rather plain and unimpressive. The parking is very ample. They also give a very nice discount for active and retired military. Upon entering the lobby, we were very pleasantly surprised. The decor was gorgeous! The clerk was very pleasant and helpful. It was Sunday evening and there was no coffee out. That was a disappointment.
Our room was very clean and comfortable, although the door stuck a little and we had the room right next to the ice maker. We only heard some noice once though.
There is a restaurant on the premises downstairs. The lobby was massive and covered a large area between the hotel part and the restaurant. It was decorated with large copper containers of flower arrangements, and wonderful hammered copper tables and leather covered chairs. The pool was indoors and had tables & chairs and a spiral slide. It looked as though there was a "hut" at one end for a bar, but it wasn't open on Sunday.
They served complimentary soup & salad and 2 drinks in the evenings and a complimentary breakfast buffet in the mornings. The method of taking advantage of those was a little confusing because there were also paying customers in the restaurant, and there weren't very good directions. However, after asking several different staff members, we finally found out where to go and what the procedure was. The food was OK, but the service was very good.
All in all it was a very pleasant stay, and we would definitely go back again.
