For perspective, I have been a Priority Club member since about 1999, and I've been Platinum for a couple of years now. In short, I travel a lot.

On a recent cross-country drive with my wife, from California to Virginia, we stayed at this place because they were supposedly pet friendly.

For one night with one cat, they charged us a $75 dollar fee.

SEVENTY...FIVE...DOLLARS!

By comparison, the Candle Wood Suites in Winchester, VA charged us $12 for the cat for one night, and on average we paid $30 a night for the cat as we crossed the country.

To add insult to injury, the wireless Internet didn't work, and the desk clerk gave us a broken CAT-5 cable. Plus, we couldn't get the microwave to work, and the desk clerk told us in the most apathetic tone possible to use the one in the common room.

Worst stay on this trip, and among the three or four worst Priority Club stays I've had since joining. If I were driving through Emporia again with a pet, I would sleep in my car before staying here.

My wife and I go thru Emporia on a fairly regular basis and were looking for a different place to stay. Tripadvisor had some good feedback for this hotel so I took a look. We were able to get a good rate on an accessable room (my wife has had a hip and a knee replaced in the past year).The excellent service started even before we arrived. We received a phone call while we were still a few hours away to make sure they would have the right type of room ready when we arrived. And when we arrived we were greeted by name, told the number of points we were earning in the rewards system, and sincerely asked if there was anything else we needed. A coupon for free drinks (soda) from their refreshment area was a nice touch also. The room was clean and comfortable, access to the hotel was easy and the staff was genuinely friendly. Overall a good stay and we will return.

Wish we needed to stay more than one night to take advantage of the fully equiped kitchen ! Anything you need is there for an extended stay. Room was large and clean with comfortable double beds. No breakfast served, but plenty of options nearby. Quiet despite location to the highway and friendly staff.

Great place to stay in Emporia. Meticulously clean and maintained beautifully. The staff here is extremely accomodating and demonstrate a true commitment to providing a pleasant stay. I had a business situation develop that required me to be on my computer and phone till 3 pm, and the staff kindly let me stay in my room (even though I'd already checked out). Bruffs Steakhouse is a nice, fun bet for dinner -large sports bar environment with very good food. Manager and staff at this Candlewood are perfectly lovely!
