“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2008

Was skeptical to stay at this hotel when I read some reviews, however, was pleasantly suprised with my stay. The hotel offers absolutely huge rooms that are clean and safe, breakfast that is good, and a very reasonably price. I came to know that it has recently come under new management that is changing the face of the hotel. A must stay if you are looking for a hotel in the area!

“Dirty!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2008

My boyfriend and I stopped at the Econo Lodge on our way home from Wisconsin. (Due to bad weather) We called ahead to a few different hotels and the Econo Lodge was the only one with rooms available. When we asked a woman on the phone how much a room would be we were surprised at how cheap it was. But when we got there our room was $30 more than the women on the phone had told us. We get in our room and from the looks of it it seemed fine. I washed my hands and there was hair on the towel- look in the bathroom and there's mouse poop on the floor. The pillows and sheets had hair on them. It was nasty!!! They offered a small breakfast in the morning but I didn't dare trust the food so we left. And will never go back.

“Abandoned look to the place.....”

My wife and I stayed there on a quick weekend getaway. What a dump. When we arrived it looked like the place was closed. No cars in the lot and snow that han'nt been plowed. I walk into the lobby and I was surprised to see a fairly modern and well kept place. Then the clerk came out....Long unkept hair and just a dirty looking person in general. Took me a half hour to check in. The clerk was not very practiced at checking guests in i guess.

My wife and I proceeded to go to our room and when we opened the door we were shocked at the filth and wear everywhere in the room. Large dark stain in the middle of the carpet, poorly patched holes in the walls, water stains in 4 places on the ceilling and a very unsettling crunching sound as you walked on the carpet. I went back to the desk to explain our misgivings about staying in that room and waited at the desk. The manager/owner walk up and as I began to explain the room to her she told me that she did'nt speak english. We then proceeded to have a 20 min. discussion until she understood what I wanted only to be told that the other hottub room was broken.I think she meant that the tub was broken, not the room.

I finally had had enough and asked for a refund, this she understood perfectly, and we luckily found a room in Amana.
I got home and e-mailed the corporate office of Econolodge and recieved a very nice standard response letter and the promise that i would hear from the Williamsburg hotel within 14 days. Needless to say it is now the end of March and have heard nothing from them.
I will never stay at a Choice Hotel again and I will definately Never stay at the one in Williamsburg. I'd rather sleep in my car.

“We'll never stay there again!”

It should have been a red flag that this was the only hotel available on late notice in Anama for this night. The next red flag should have been that at 10 p.m. the parking lot was empty, except for one car. Walking down the hallway the place looks empty. From the outside it looked like the hotel was closed. We get to our room at 10 p.m. ready to relax. The room itself was clean, but when I went to use the bathroom I noticed how bad it smelled and that the toilet lid was down. I lift it and it was the grossest thing I had ever seen. And it looked like it had been that way for awhile. I walk out and tell my boyfriend that we're not staying here. I go to the desk and tell her how bad it is. She offers to clean it, That would not work, it needed major cleaning. She did not offer us another room and did not act surprised, she refunded our money and we drove the 80 miles home in the rain.

It was nice when it was a Day's Inn. I think there was a fire there and Econ Lodge must have bought it. Half the motel looked like it was closed up. Think twice about staying there!

“Econolodge”

On our annual "shop till you drop" trip to Tanger & the Amanas, we ended up staying at the Econolodge in Williamsburg, exit 225. In past years we have stayed at the Comfort Inn at this exit but it does not exist anymore. The former Comfort Inn is now The Heritage Inn for those who care. We did not know about this change until our arrival. We were able to get a room at the Econolodge. It was clean & adequate. There weren't enough towels in our room & we waited a good deal of time before some were brought to us. However, we did ask for extra pillows & those were brought to us promptly. Ice was another ordeal. The shopping at the Amanas and the Tanger outlet mall (tax free weekend) was great!
