I should have known better. Anytime a hotel offers waffles the place is infested with families. Unlike cock-roaches, this crowd comes out in the daylight. The hotel is in serious need of updating. Old furniture sits over old carpets that host an old smell. At least the old towels match the outdated decor.
As a business traveler, I was initially treated as an honored aberration. The front desk person gave me a gift bag, designating my awards status with Marriott. The bag cost more than the snack items inside. Still ... she tried. Most of the help did. It wasn't really their fault that the evening reception's beer was flat, the chips were stale, and the kids were having their eighth free meal of the day.
Next time I'll go next door to the Marriott. And leave this place to the Brady Family.
