“Great Place to Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2007

Hello!

The staff at this hotel is incredible!! A note was in the room about how the staff and management really cared about our opinion. I'm an analytical person and saw some things that I thought the management would want to know about. They were not things that were worth complaining about to the staff. I wrote myself a note to remember what to tell management when I had a chance to call. I was busy and left for a bit the next morning of my two day stay. Imagine my very PLEASANT surprise to find Trudy, who cleaned the room, had told maintenance right away. My room was clean and the maintenance man was finishing up, when I got back! THEY worked quick. They took the little things seriously!

Also great is the hottub, pool for the kids, all day/night fresh coffee downstairs, (and inroom coffee), safe atmosphere, FREE WI-FI, FREE breakfast! both healthy and hearty options! (make your own waffles, hard-boiled eggs, 3 fresh fruit, milk, (2% and skim) 2 kinds of juice, breakfast sandwiches, and pancake/sausage on a stick. Oatmeal, mini muffins. Soooo many options!

VERY pleasant staff.

I'm a local and NOW I know which hotel I can recommend!!!

Things to note:
View is limited, and chair at desk was for people with very short legs, pool is small, but was never used by others but my kids!

MANY towels available at pool. Mall close by, many restaurants. Best Chinese restaurant (menu) nearby as well. Many close enough to walk to but really not safe, due to mall area traffic and lack of sidewalks, BUT can go to Burger King and Subway.

I got a GREAT deal using Priceline ($45.00) as they picked my place! It also filled up later, as someone looked for a room my second night and was full. Nice recommendable place!

Special recommendations for Trudy, also Morning Reception, and Maintenance Man!

Typical mid price chain hotel. Fairly plain room, seemed a bit cramped. Clean. Friendly front desk staff. Typical breakfast though they did have waffle irons and breakfast sandwiches for the microwave. WiFi worked fine, so did the TV.

First night all OK but old A/C broke down on 2nd day. They moved us next door, another oldie. It cooled fine but was so noisy I turned it off after cooling the room down so we could sleep. If you get a room with the original metal front Amana A/C units, check for operation and sound level before unpacking. I saw other rooms with new units.

There are several newer motels in the area priced like the Fairfield and likely nicer. We normally stay at the Comfort Inn next door for about $15 less a night and comparable quality but switched this time to stay with other family.

“You Could Do Worse than this Fairfield Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2007

I stayed for 2 nights while attending a class reunion in Cedar Falls. No rooms were available in Cedar Falls but I didn't mind having to stay at this hotel as the location is convenient to the freeways and is only about a 10 minute drive to CF.
The room was standard fare for this type of hotel but clean/ a comfortable chair to sit in and a good bed. The bathroom was simple but clean- the toilet and the bathtub/shower in a separate room from the vanity which I like.
I thought the continental breakfast was pretty good, despite some other reviews to the contrary: you get all the cereals, bagels or muffin, fruit, juices, coffee, hard-boiled egg, and if you want you can make your own waffles. There isn't any bacon or a chef to make your omelette but so what? It is more than adequate.
My room had the hallway icemaker up against my wall which was a bit of a nuisance but overall the place is quiet. For what you pay, try it- you'll be pleased.

“Nice Business Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2007

Stayed for two night in March of 2007 for Business.

Good Points:
- Easy to find. Right of major highways.
- Room was very clean and updated. Had the Executive King Bed room. Lots of Room to spread out. Nice desk and couch.
- Got a new shower head after my 1st day there. They changed the old Shower Massage head to new shiny Stainless Steel one which worked much better.
- Free Breakfast. Ok choices. Not as good as a Hampton Inn though.
- Two free newspapers USA Today and local paper in the afternoon.
- Close to loads of chain restaurants and an OK mall.
- Bed was very comfortable.
- Hotel was full my 2nd night there, but NO problems with noise.

Bad Points.
- Right between a Ford Dealer and a Car Wash. My rooms view was of the Car Lot. Ford F-150s were parked right under my window.
- A/C did not seem to work. But it was cool out so I opened the window a bit.
- Couldn't get the Wireless internet to work. Maybe it was me.
- No Fitness Center. Just a small pool.
- They do have a deal with local hospital's fitness center about 1 1/2 miles away.
- The fitness center was very crowded with people and patients working out. Hard to get on an aerobic machine. But lots of weight machines. Locker Room was very small and only one shower. Free Towels but nothing else.

  • Liked — Near lots of stuff, Mall, Food, and the highway
  • Disliked — Lot location. Sandwiched between car wash and car dealership

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2007

This was a much nicer place than the Comfort Inn next door where I stayed last year.

The rooms are nicely lit and cozy. The bathroom was roomy enough and the shower was nice and clean. Could use more water pressure in the shower however, and more room on the vanity sink.

Breakfast was nice and had a good variety. The front desk staff was very friendly and service was prompt.
