“Isle of Capri in Waterloo, Iowa...small but friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We live fairly close to this venue and have enjoyed going there for an entertaining weekend. They have very nicely decorated rooms with VERY comfortable beds, the buffet is one of the best when it comes to the casinos in Iowa. They have a great pool area and I'm always finding something at the gift shop for some occasion. The casino is a bit small in comparison with other casinos in the state but all the employees are friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: The front side of the building is great.

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Stayed one night at the hotel on 10/7/2011, checked in at 3, no line, quick efficient service. Room was quite nice, quiet and very clean. Extremely comfortable bed. Great value for the price. The casino was not real large but was enjoyable, a live band on Friday evening. Breakfast at buffet in morning was quite good. All in all, would definitely recommend.

“Nice hotel and casino”

Stayed the night of 9/24/11 as my husband and I were in town for a UNI football game. Have stayed here in the past without any problems, so I was suprised to see all of the negative reviews. Checked in at about 2:30pm, no line, and was able to get to our room right away. Stayed in room 728 with 1 king bed. Room was rather large, big windows with view of parking lot. There was a ceiling fan that I considered a bonus, had on during the night to drown out any noise coming from the hall. Lamp on desk had extra outlets so didn't have to crawl around on the floor looking for a place to charge electronics. Thick drapes overlapped so no light at all was let into the room. No tub in bathroom, but very large shower with bench in there. Toiletries smelled wonderful, some kind of orange scent. Did not go to pool area. Casino is kind of small, and very smoky, but there is a non-smoking area. Various self serve drink stations, and at one is a large fridge filled with 12 oz. bottles of water, nice to be able to take these with you. Ate a late dinner at Otis & Henry's on the 2nd level, I had soup and salad, and my husband had prime rib special for $14.00. Food was good, and nice atmosphere. Had breakfast buffet in the am was $12.00 for both of us, what a bargain, standard breakfast foods, we were happy with it. No line for check out. Overall were very satisfied, and will stay here again.

“NICE CASINO, BUT LOUSY HOTEL….”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

The casino is nice enough. Not as smoky as some casinos, good layout, plenty of close parking. Restaurants are average or slightly above. But the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Parties with lots of kids running around all hours of the day and night. Rooms adequate and fairly clean, but nothing fancy or 'upscale' at all. Customer service is terrible. No wake up call as requested, can't get them to answer the phones from the rooms downstairs (to ask for wake call, and again later to ask them to please stop the party occurring in the hall outside my door), long line at check in and check out with very unpleasant people working the desk. Best I can say about it: its better than the Ramada downtown, which doesn't take much.

Room Tip: Go over to San Marnan Drive and see if the Hampton has any available.

“Casino was good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

I can't comment on the hotel as we didn't stay, we only visited the casino.

Plenty parking and easy to find

The casino staff were pleasant and there were many one and two cent slots which are good for those of us who like to amuse ourselves with small amounts.

The buffet was good value with plenty of choice and the food was fresh and piping hot. The dessert selection was excellent with a "Hawaian delight dessert" which was divine.

We will visit again when we are in the area.
