This motel is 20 yrs. old & definitely shows its age. The toilets don't get the toilet paper down in one flush. There is no automatic door upon entry for use by the disabled, despite the blue/white wheelchair sign next to the door. On the same note, there are no elevators in the building. Anyone other than someone with a backpack or a small overnight bag & not much else had better hope & pray for a first floor room because otherwise you'll have to carry all your gear up the stairs on your own.
There are only double beds, not queen beds. Our daughter & her husband had only one bed in the adjoining room & IT was only a double bed. I would have expected a king bed there, or at the very least, a queen. We had 3 adults in our room crowded into 2 double beds & the beds were old & non-supportive, causing my husband to roll to the middle, pushing me to the edge on my side. It was so bad that I opted to sleep on the twin size hideabed by the 3rd night & it was missing springs under one of the bottom corners so that there was NO support there for the mattress. When I sat on the other bottom corner of the bed, I fell right through. That being said, the hideabed was STILL more comfortable than the bed, simply because I had more than a foot to spread out, something I did NOT have when my husband rolled into me through no choice of his own.
The television picture in our room was quite dark, a sign the television is wearing out. Our daughter's television had a strong bluish cast to everything. These televisions are OLD. They need to be replaced & modernized & flat screens would be nice.
The shower curtain must have gone through a VERY hot dryer, because it was a good 6-8" too short for the shower rod, leaving the guest to have to decide which end of the tub he wanted to try to protect from allowing the water out of the tub. Curved shower rods are great only if the curtains FIT them.
There are signs in the bathrooms telling guests that if we want to help the environment, we should hang our towels so that they may be reused. We did just that & they were all replaced...EXCEPT the one that our daughter had left on the coffee table in the sitting area. They need to teach the housekeeping what the signs mean.
While there was a coffee maker in the room, I made myself a pot our first morning there & the coffee was never replaced the next 2 mornings. Why have a coffee maker if they're not going to provide replacement coffee??
I went down to the complimentary breakfast offered off the lobby & it was adequate. However, the tables where the guests were supposed to eat were absolutely FILTHY. As tables emptied, no one came around (as in other motels where we've stayed) to wipe the tables down. It was made all the more obvious because they are glass tables, so smears and spills are glaring.
The night BEFORE our daughter & her family were checking out of their room, their keys had been deactivated. They had them rekeyed, only to have the same thing happen the following morning before they'd checked out, making it exceedingly difficult to load all their things (including baby gear for a 4 mos. old) into the car. That same night, our other daughter's key had been deactivated for OUR room.
Seriously, if it hadn't been for the fact that our older daughter & her husband had all the baby things to juggle, we would have checked out after the first night & moved to a different motel. I can't think of anything positive to say about this place except its proximity to my parents retirement community. I take that back...the rooms were fairly well soundproofed.
Room Tip: Get a first floor room or don't get one at all.
