“Last Resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

The sheets were clean. The guy at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The place is conveniently located about 30 seconds off I-80. That's the good.

The property is a run-down mess, both outside and in. They could star in a new reality TV show; "Can You Clean Better Than a 5th Grader". Pubic hairs (not mine) in the bathroom, splatter on the walls, crud caked behind the faucet and around the exhaust vent. Don't accidentally touch the inside of the moldy shower curtain either! The air conditioner didn't work, no screens on the windows, and noisy outside; all contributing to a poor nights sleep.

Seriously, raise the rates $5 per night, and hire someone to clean the place up.

“One of the worst motels I've ever been to.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2010

Where do I start? With the parking lot that is in poor condition, the smell inside the hallways and the rooms themselves (smells musty and stale) or the generally unfriendly staff? The one thing that this hotel has going for it is that it is close to the highway.

“Great Price, Great Location, Not Fancy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2009

We landed here during the week end of the Drake Relays and didn't have any reservations. The price for our room with one double bed was $45 plus tax. For our purpose it was great, we needed a close place to stay, a warm shower, and a comfortable bed. The Pool is great, very warm and 10ft deep on the deep end. Good for adults, not so much if you have little kids. The breakfast was fine, it is not fancy but there was cereal, juice, coffee, toast and doughnuts. OK yes you don't get do it yourself waffles, nor eggs or bacon, but you will not be hungry. Yes it is old, but I don't expect a 5 star environment for a discount lodging. The big sign out front no longer has the ECONO on the lodge so I think they might have lost the franchise. The gas station nearby was closing, BUT we are going to stay there again in May for the state track meet.

“Never, EVER again.......YUCK!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2008

Our family stayed here due to the convenient location and we were SO disappointed! The staff was unprofessional and most often not even at the front desk, the continental breakfast (what little there was) was unhealthy pre-packaged foods and items weren't re-stocked. The room was small, shabby and not very clean, and the bathroom a wreck.......rusty metal, cracked sink, clogged drains, no hot water for a shower. The one and only saving grace for this motel is the pool. It's situated in a courtyard of sorts and it's an older bigger pool with a nice deep end. Other than that I'm sorry to say that I can't find anything good to say and I'm normally not a negative person! Spend a little more money and stay in a better place!

“Old and many problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2007

First of all it was very inexpensive, had an indoor pool, continental breakfast and was in a good area of town. However, we checked in at 3:15 p.m., were given a room key, lugged all of our stuff to the room, only to discover that the room was not yet made up and was a mess from the previous guests. Upon inquiry at the front desk, the response was that they have no idea when it will be ready, but they are sorry. We left to get some food and upon our return the room was made up.
After an evening out, we came back to the motel to find the fire alarm going off. It did quit after about 10 minutes, and that was not a problem again...I hope there was not really a fire as no one seemed to pay any attention to the alarm. While the alarm was going off, a call to the front desk was answered with...we're working on it and then a hang-up.
In the morning the continental breakfast consisted of hostess gem donuts, fruit loops, corn-flakes, 2 loaves of bread, a bag of muffins, 2 toasters, jellies, peanut butter, coffee, juice, and milk. After breakfast we went back to the room and our keys did not work. We had to go back to the front desk to have them re-done so they could work. She said day-light savings time (It is now August) affects the keys.
We tried to take showers but the water never got warm between 8:30-10:30 a.m. My son braved the frigid temperature but it was waaay too cold for my husband and I. Not even luke warm. Luckily, we were heading home so I left without a shower. Even at a cheap rate I would like some warm water.
That being said, we know you get what you pay for....the room was comfortable and quiet. The motel itself is very dated.
