Nothing too fancy about this place - older bathroom, very firm bed, OK continental breakfast. I usually stay at the Motel 6 across the highway when in town (going back a few years here) - but decided to try the Econolodge as it had free wifi and breakfast. Probably would return to the Motel 6 if my travels included me coming back to the Sioux City area. The rooms were the same price, so I thought I would give it a shot.
The biggest "beef" of this place would be the extremely BRIGHT lights illuminating the walkways in front of the room doors. Granted, the security of that is great, but the fact that the shades are not adequite to handle the 220 watts of light (I checked the wattage in the morning) directly outside of the windows - it really makes for a bright room all night long. In fact, I woke up before the sunrise and actually had to get up to check the time (no clock in the room) on my cell phone, as I thought it was daylight out from the bright outdoor lights! It was that bright! Still dark outside, though, but bright from the flourescent lighting.
Housekeeping consisted of a quick wipedown, new towels, and trash empty between my stay. No bedmaking, straightening out the furniture, etc - things you are used to when staying at a hotel for a night or two as I did. It would have at least been nice to have the bed made upon my return for my second (and final) night there. It was like I got a weekly rate (with limited service) but paid the daily rate!
(I travel all over the country with my job, and I contribute on EVERY hotel I stay in. Trip Advisor has been a great tool for me, and I contribute fairly, for both good and bad facilities.)
