I avoid Fairfields because of their paltry lobby breakfasts. However, in Ottumwa the Fairfield is the best chain hotel, so I booked there anyway. What an amazing surprise! The owners take a special pride in far exceeding the standard Fairfield offering: lots of extra items you would never find at any other Fairfield. Highlight of this property. All other aspects of stay were completely satisfactory also. Best Fairfield in the world by far: Marriott management should visit this property to see how to do it right.

Staff was very friendly and accomodating, but this hotel is off the beaten path. The area seems industrial and a bit run down and I wasn't sure about the safety, but my fears were unfounded. It is a safe place, no one bothered our motorcycles parked out front. Our room was clean and spacious, the bathroom sparkled. The breakfast had something for everyone, from waffles to omlettes to cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit. The laundry facilites were neat and clean, the spa looked very inviting. I would recommend this hotel.

Don't understand the negative reviews about this hotel. We found it to be very nice. Rooms were nice by Fairfield Inn Standards. Clean and neat, with friendly staff and great location. Also the breakfast was one of the best we've ever had in any hotel. Definitely recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in the Ottumwa area.

The staff here was rude. The housekeeping girls were snotty and very arrogant and immature when asked questions about things. The manager was real snotty as well. The front desk staff named Polly she was really rude and never smiled or said thank you. Acted like she did not know her job well.
