Had an extended stay in what I thought was a clean hotel. Trains horns blared continuously at a nearby intersection throughout the night. Bitten by bed bugs. Staff said it was spiders & called an exterminator, but bites continued. Left hotel.

Mason City is a town in need of a HGI or Hampton Inn. Having tried a couple other hotels in past and still looking for a better nights stay, I tried this location.

Pros:
- Very nice, very helpful front desk.
- A pile of cable tv channels
- Close to a few fast food places and next door to a gas station and tattoo parlor (not sure that is a pros).
- Air conditioning was pretty good.

Cons:
- My non-smoking smelled like an ashtray. Room (walls, blinds) coated with yellow nicotene.
- Huge iron shaped burn in the carpet... classy.
- Wall paper hanging loose in several areas.
- Lots of dings and scratches all around
- Large amount of mildew around the shower

I paid about $90 for a room that was probably worth about $50. I would not consider staying here again.

At my arrival time, the desk attendance was busy due to several people checking in at the same time. He rest attention to my person even though, I am I Gold VIP and I booked a suite.
When I arrived to my Suite, I notice only one shampoo and one piece of soap in the bathroom. The room has a Jaccuzi that would be use at night time. So, no shampoo and soap for the next morning.
The place was very noisy and I could not sleep well. The breakfast offered was terrible.
The worst was to ask for some information to the Desk person. He never knew nothing about the hotel. He finally said: "You are asking to the wrong person. I come here to help".
The hotel is that cheap that does not have a fitness center or a computer and printer for the customers. Please don't waste your money staying at Comfort Inn of Mason City.

The staff was friendly enough,room was another story; broken furniture, cracked window, the fire house is next door and fire trucks left all times of the night. there is a busy train track a block away so you hear trains all the time. their deluxe breakfast to me was a joke. It was the exact same thing even the sweet rolls every morning and I hate boiled eggs. One of the evening front desk staff was a quite a snot. Found we had to get our room keys remade almost daily. Very expensive for what you get.
