“Need to be harassed by police? Stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2010

My finance and I stayed here for a wedding this past Saturday. After the reception(in the hotel) was over we were invited to continue to party in the bar area right outside of the reception room. We were having a good time, until we ran out of beer. I asked the hotel night clerk if there was a way we could get some more beer. She said there is a gas station a mile away. Nobody was able to drive, so I asked her if I gave her some money if she could go and get it for us. She said ok. 30min later the lady returned with 2 18pks of budlight. The only problem was that I gave her $60. I asked for change and she said No. I then asked for a receipt, she said I'm calling the cops. I walked away. 5min later cops arrived and then had to deal with this. To avoid the whole situation of trying to explain why I was not sober, I just said I would go back to the room. Party over. Thru the whole night I heard a loud TV. I heard people jumping around, heard people talking, etc. The walls are paper thin. Other members of the party tried to get the noise situation resolved, but instead cops were called cause the hotel clerk was probably hoping to make love to the cops or something. I would strongly suggest, if you feel you want to get arrested or fight with authority...stay here and have the hotel clerk buy you some beer. She'll call the cops. She probably would call the cops if you were to call her more than once. Oh and the beds were hard, I woke up and my hip was hurting.

“Unpleasant staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

We stayed there for a wedding. The night staff was very rude! We complained about our neighbor's TV being very loud. We asked if she could talk to them or if we could switch rooms. Her response was "housekeeping would be upset if they had to clean two rooms". We then tried to knock on the door ourselves to see if we could get them to turn the TV down. She responded by calling the police on us. She told the police that we needed to leave the hotel. She was not helpful and was very disrespectful. I know I would NEVER stay at this hotel again.

“Disrespectful night staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

I stayed here for a wedding with the reception taking place in the reception hall at the hotel. The majority of the staff were friendly and accommodating, but the employee on duty for the night shift was rude and unaccommodating. When asked if she would call a room to have their very loud television turned down, she refused to help and then called the police when we knocked on the door ourselves. Completely unnecessary.

“Don't expect good service here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

My daughter asked to have 20 rooms held for her wedding on July 24th, 2010 for out of town guests and the wedding party. In June one of her brides maids called to reserve her room and was told there was nothing available. On July 6th my daughter called because two more people has told her they weren't able to get rooms either. She was told that the rooms had been released on June 1st and that there wasn't anything that they could do for her. That is almost two months before her wedding. So at the last minute she called the Super 8 in town and they were very accomodating and said they would hold rooms for her until 6pm the day of the wedding. So if you need a place to stay call the Super8.

“Very Comfortable - Slipping on Services”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

We come to Maquoketa periodically to see extended family and have always stayed at the Comfort Inn. It's a great location, clean and very comfortable. The people are great. The only change this time is that the services and house keeping aren't as great. No USA Today paper; very, very limited breakfast; and housekeeping forgets to leave towels, coffee, etc. But - those are small things. It's still very nice and we will stay here again.
