“Not worth the rate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

We stayed here for 2 nights. I booked it because of the jacuzzi which we thought would feel great after a day of trout fishing. When we got to the motel there was a sign on the door that the pool and spa were not working. It is my understanding they haven't worked all summer. This should probably be noted on the website.
We had a room with 2 beds. Upon opening the room, I thought someone else was staying there. The pillows were on top of the bedspread and the beds looked like someone had been sitting on them. Found out this was our room. The bedspreads were the cheapest ones I have seen in a long time. There were snags and stains on them. I pushed mine to the foot of the bed. I checked for bed bugs and was glad to find none. The furniture, dresser, table and chairs all had deep scratches on them. The room appeared to be clean.
On the 2nd day, after fishing all day we returned to room and found the beds had not been made. We had pulled the covers up before leaving but did not make the bed. The bathroom was re stocked with towels, soaps, etc and the wastepaper basket emptied. Evidentally this is all housekeeping did.
We were staying on a Monday and Tuesday night and there weren't many people so I don't think housekeeping had more rooms then they could handle.
The complimentary breakfast is advertised as deluxe! What a joke - coffee, warm juice, 2 cereals, doughnut holes, and toast - not exactly what I would call deluxe! The front desk staff never came over to see if anything needed to be refilled.
All in all I was disappointed in the stay and will not stay herre again.

“Steer clear of this hotel!”

The first sign this might not be the best hotel out there was a sign on the door explaining why nothing is "their fault". And no, I'm not kidding. Pool - out of order. Hot tub - out of order. Room pricing - messed up. Cleanliness - not the best. Staff - very incompetent
(shouldn't a hotel that offers a continental breakfast at least have staff that know how to make coffee?)

We stayed at this hotel for a relative's wedding. We had a block of rooms that were pre-booked many months in advance. They still managed to make errors upon check-in. (And these rooms were booked directly through the hotel). People that had requested one bed had two AND were charged an additional fee. The clerk somehow had managed to put everyone's rooms under one name which made check-in interesting to say the least. Continental breakfast the next morning was orange juice, apple juice, milk, toast and cereal. The coffee was out at 9 am and the staff didn't know how to make more.

We had reserved the conference room as a central meeting place but the chairs in there were so stained and dirty, we hesistated to sit in them.

The pool had roughly one foot of water in the bottom and there was a sign on the door saying "Pool Closed. We don't know for how long. Sorry." (According to staff, it's been closed for months).

We attemped to ask a question at the front desk, but both staff members were outside smoking.

I realize it is nearly impossible to soundproof rooms however being able to hear every noise from the next room is a little ridiculous...especially late at night.

Needless to say, we will NOT be staying at this hotel again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

“Bad Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2009

I requested a king size bed on the ground floor, but was told I would have to take two queens instead. Ok; no big deal. The beds were the worst we have ever slept on. Standing in the room, you could see the beds were bowed and had very little support. The next morning I asked the desk clerk to have the mattresses changed and she told me she wouldn't do it. We foolishly stayed there a second night and when checking out asked about a satisfaction policy, and was told I would need to contact their Corporate office. The Corporate office sent me a letter and promised to follow up with a phone call after I called them to complain later. I'm still waiting a week later.

“the Worst Ever!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2009

The Manchester Days Inn is not worthy of a being called even suitable lodging. If you're looking for the most horrific experience ever, then by all means stay here! Where do I begin? The pool was GREEN, the only thing that was missing were the ducks and weeds. The room was dirty, curtains were only half hung on the curtain rod, filthy carpet, lazy housekeeping staff who couldn't even bring clean towels or make the beds, and the coffee pot was surely used for some clandestine manufacturing of methamphetamine. It was clogged and broken. The awful reek of smoke cover-up spray was pervasive, in a non-smoking room, of course, and the beds were hard, old, squares of nasty styrofoam with questionably stained linen. The people in the "NO SMOKING" room next door were smoking pipe tobacco which was stinking up the whole first floor. Hmmm, let's see what else? On top of the nasty, mold-ridden breakfast offerings, the ice machine didn't work, the front desk staff were too busy catering to the antics of their trailer-dwelling friends that they couldn't attend to the needs of the guests, including making sure that guests weren't disturbed by their drunken friends fighting in the hallways while running up and down the halls, on both floors, both nights we were there, knocking on doors while yelling obscenities at 2:00 AM!!!! that pretty much sums it up; the WORST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

“Worst hotel experience in years. Disgusting "breakfast"; rude management; NOISY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2008

On a long road trip we decided to stop in Dyersville, IA. Every hotel in the area was booked except for the last room in Manchester at the Days Inn. We drove the half hour drive and pulled into the Days Inn parking lot. I was quoted $71 plus tax over the phone for the night because of my triple AAA discount. At the counter the girl said the system was down but the charge of $79 would be the total for the night.

We got the last room of the night, just above the hotel lobby/entrance. There is no elevator. The room looked okay, but from the moment we checked in, this place was a nightmare. There is NO, absolutely NO sound proofing. The people next door had snuck in their dog and were talking/yelling so loudly I thought they were in the hallway. People in their group were also in the room across from them, so they were going back and forth between the two rooms, slamming both doors each time. They were rude and loud. The people with motorcycles parked in front of the hotel entrance/lobby and decided to talk until late, past 11pm, and then woke both of us up with their talking in the morning, from 6:30am. The "breakfast" is simply gross. The coffee is worse than any coffee from any gas station, the cereal tastes like it was swept off the floor, your get the idea.

In this case, you truly get what you pay for. I had never stayed at a Days Inn before and never, ever will again. I should have slept in my car. I would have had a better night's sleep and would have saved $79 and the grief of a bad night sleep and rude staff, who told me one rate over the phone and then charged me another. When I pointed out the difference to the staff, I was brushed off. They did compensate me $10 for my trouble, but too little, too late. I am only writing this to save someone. If you are in need of the last room in the area, don't do it. Your car is a safer, nicer place to sleep in a pinch.
