It was my last weekend in Iowa City before moving to Los Angeles, and my girlfriend and I were looking for a place to escape to before our period of long distance separation began. The Golden Haug provided a fantastic getaway that offered more amenities for a lower price than the Sheraton or the Hotel Vetro. The room was clean and charmingly put together, we had a whirlpool and a king bed, and in the mornings Nila cooked our breakfasts herself and told entertaining stories ( I seriously think she missed her calling by not being a chef, btw). All in all, I can't praise this place enough, and can't wait until our next visit!

We had a really nice stay. Our room had a private entrance and was very charming. Breakfast and conversation in the morning was great.

It was our first time to stay in a bed and breakfast. The rooms were great and the owner was a fantastic host. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stay at the Golden Haug.

We stayed at the Golden Haug for 4 nights, had the good fortune of reserving the Swine and Roses room - which is a very generous sized suite. This is a charming B&B, very quiet and comfortable and well situated within walking distance of all the downtown has to offer. The innkeepers are a delight, the breakfast was wonderful, and despite the late July Iowa heat, we really enjoyed sitting out on the spacious front porch. We would definitely stay there again. (And the "hog" theme is really quite cute, very creative and made us chuckle!)
