The manager does not understand English, refuses to allow guest ice. He is rude, as well as was seen harassing guest. My room was not clean and he refused to allow cleaning supplies. He don't like the smell. He yells at the children who were there and doesn't allow them on the playground equipment. I asked why and he showed me vegetables growing. Please tell me Fort Madison has a grocery store. And he didn't put water in the pool. Why does this site say breakfast and a pool? Worst service ever. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there.

Motel Mericana is a low-budget place, we paid $45 for a double. The room didn't smell too great, but after putting on the a/c it wasn't too bad. The cleaning isn't up to typical American standards - cigarette burns in the comforter & mattress, carpet vacuumed but stained, and it is a bit run down: empty swimming pool, weeds, but bedding o.k. and acceptable for 1 night at a cheap motel. It seems like many of the occupants are long-term residents. Free wifi, no breakfast.

After a long day;s drive, the Budget Host Mericana Motel hit the spot!

A modest. older establishmnet; comfotable clean and bright rooms with the furniture arranged in a relaxing fashion; good place to walk the dogs. Too bad, though, that the outdoor swimming pool was not filled.

And try the nearby Palms Supper Club for a good catfish dinne!
