“Hard to get to, but a reasonable stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

This hotel is kind of tucked into a nook. They apparently realize that, though, and put up plenty of helpful signs, including well lit "palm trees" to help mark the way.

The rooms were older fixtures, but everything worked as it should. I had a little difficulty balancing the room temp, but i got it to work eventually.

The ice machine worked without incident, and there were no silly "no coolers" sign on it.

Wifi was fairly fast and gave me no trouble.

Because of the location, the only noise i had to contend with were other guests, and that wasn't an issue.

All hotel rooms have outside entrances, and mine had a half-step up to get in. Kind of annoying when pushing a cargo dolly, but it was workable.

My only real complaint is that the room was short on useful electrical outlets... I had to get creative with my wiring.

“Their people make the difference”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I stayed there for 10 months and everyone from the owners to housekeeping was always friendly and helpful. Ron Jr at the front desk always had a smile and never rushed. Room was always clean and comfortable. Breakfast was always good food. Excellent value, and friendly people.

Room Tip: Stay away from the bar door corner rooms

“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

The hotel looks great from the outside but not worth the money. Our room had a broken bed and since it was cool the night before they turned off the air. Our room was 80 degrees, they said our building was on a boiler system and could not turn air on but we could open the window....The only good thing about this hotel is the bar..Don't waste your money.

I apologize that your stay with the Days Inn was less than satisfactory. We strive on making every guest happy and comfortable when staying at the motel. It was an odd weather week when you had stayed with us and unfortunately the building your room was in was one of the older buildings that had not been switched over to individual heating/cooling units. We are in the process of switching every room over to individual units. I hope that you will strongly reconsider the Days Inn when staying in the Dubuque area again. I am happy to hear that you at least enjoyed Spirits Bar & Grill. Thank you for your input and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,
Ron Conrad

“Great place, Great Price!”

Clean, comfortable place to stay. On the highway but we heard no noise. Nothing particularly fancy but beautiful breakfast room with lots of space and great view. Food is good and always replenished quickly. Price was reasonable and service was courteous and prompt. We have stayed here before and would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

“Ok for the price but could probably find better for same amount.”

Althought the location is good the hotel itself was a little rough. The first room they gave us smelled musty and moldy. I called the front desk and they offered us another room, she was very polite and friendly. The second room didn't smell but the toilet didn't work properly and flooded over from the tank, we had to shut the water valve under the toilet off to get it to stop. (Both rooms were clean and well kept, the first room just smelled bad, probably from all the flooding they had had there a few weeks before.) The walls were very thin and we could hear all of the conversations from the room next door. The breakfast selection was good, fruit muffins, bagels, cereal, boiled eggs and a waffle station.

It was pretty much what I expected for the price I paid but we will probably spend a little more next time to stay somewhere else.
