“Stay for Wedding in Des Moines, Iowa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We went to Des Moines for my nieces wedding, she had reserved a block of rooms for the wedding and it was great. What a nice hotel and friendly staff. I had reserved two rooms adjoining near the elevator and that is exactly what I got. They gave a free breakfast each morning (we were there two days) and it was great, I like variety and they certaninly offered it. they had a nice pool and excerise area that my husband, son and daughter used. The couple had their gift opening on Sunday morning at the hotel and the hotel allowed for late checkout up to 2pm which was great for us. We didn't feel so rushed getting out of our room in the morning after a while night of dancing and celebrating. I also love the sleep number beds, there great for couples who like different bed types. My son and his wife also took advantage of the free shuttle to and from the airport which was a plus for us since we wanted to leave earlier than they did. Would stay here again in a heart beat!!

Room Tip: I like room near the elevator and sometimes noise can be an issue but not at all at this hotel.

“Fantastic choice for staying the night before a flight.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Radisson on November 30th due to an early morning flight on Dec 1st. I locked in a rate of $82.00 since I booked on line at least 32 days in advance. This is the best rate and is only available on-line and is non-refundable if you should choose to cancel. The Radisson offers free shuttles to and from the airport but you do have to sign up for it at the front desk. You are also allowed to keep your car parked anywhere in the lot for the duration of your trip. They give you one free drink ticket at the bar for each person staying and free complimentary appetizers and hot breakfast. If you leave early as we did before the breakfast buffet is open they have a side table with breakfast bars, fruit and to go cups for coffee. The shuttle dropped us off at the airport at 4:30am and all we had to do was call when we returned. They came right away to pick us up and delivered us to our car. So basically I think we got a great deal. Parking our car in the airport lot for our vacation would have cost $80. We got a night's stay, 2 drinks free (worth $25.00), a ride to the airport and back with front door service and breakfast to go. Plus we got to sleep in a litle more since we live about 40 miles away. Also the rooms have sleep number beds and are quite roomy and clean. They also have a good restaurant and bar. We will definitely stay there again.

“Nice for an airport hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Congratulations to housekeeping. I didn't find so much as a water spot. The large comfortable room has a mattress that uses air to adjust the firmness. When I got into the bed for the night, I tried to adjust the firmness. I found that one side of the bed would adjust; the other side was stuck on super hard firm. They might have been able to fix it, but I was in bed and not willing to be interrupted by maintenance. This is a newer hotel, but the acrylic bathroom counter top and tub surrounds were already showing their age. A cigarette burn was clearly visible and hairline cracks were beginning. They skimped when constructing the bathrooms. The front desk personnel warmly greeted me and remembered me each time I walked past them. This hotel has what is advertised as an Italian Steakhouse built on the front of it. It was very nicely upgraded from what I expected and it would be worth checking out for Dinner. This is where they offered the free breakfast buffet and the buffet had the usual free offerings well presented. It was nice to be able to eat breakfast in nice surroundings with real china, glasses, coffee cups and silverware. There wasn’t a paper plate in sight. Do remember is an airport hotel, close to the airport and under the flight path. No amount of soundproofing with let you forget.

Thank you for choosing the Radisson Hotel Des Moines Airport. We appreciate the kind words regarding the staff at the hotel and restaurant. Johnny's is a great restaurant and we are glad that you were able to enjoy it while in Des Moines. We appreciate the fact that you think this is a newer hotel, as that speaks volumes about our maintenance efforts. This hotel was actually opened in July of 1998, and we are currently working on redesigning the entire hotel including guest rooms and bathrooms. It is a very exciting process that will begin early in 2012. I would like to apologize that your experience did not exceed your expectations. Please contact me at jsmith@hoari.com if your travels return you to the Des Moines area. Thanks again for choosing the Radisson Hotel Des Moines Airport.

“Great Hotel for Business Travelers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Nice room. Competent Staff. HD Capable TV without HD service (personal pet peeve of mine). Free breakfast with eggs to order/omelette guy is really good. Pool is just ok. Free internett is always a good thing. Bottom line... It isn't the Bellagio, but it isn't a random Red Roof Inn in Oshkosh either.
