As this property is immediately adjacent to the Drake campus (and also the Drake Diner), it is very convenient for visitors to the University. It has a very typical motel ambiance (plastic shower, no closet), but the front desk was friendly, and the bed comfortable. The choice of firm and soft pillows was a nice touch, as was the bag of goodies for Holiday Inn reward club members. The breakfast was not good - no fruit, tired-looking hot dishes, so we opted for cereal - but then the milk was clotted and spoiled. So this would be an area for improvement, but overall if you are looking for basic accomdation near campus, this is fine.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and had a wonderful experience. We were traveling with a quadraplegic young man and the staff could not have been more accomodating. The rooms were spotless with easy access. The staff was so pleasant and helpful. The Drake locale was so convenient and the restaurant located next door was delicious and easy to get to by wheelchair. Thanks so much.

We needed a place to sleep on the way from Denver to Chicago. This location was a few minutes from the highway. It was a very large room with a sliding door accessing a nice outdoor area/courtyard. It was too cold to have the door open, but it was nice to see the open space outside of our room.
The hotel was clean, the staff was knowledgeable about the neighborhood, the breakfast was tasty.
No complaints at all. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Everything went well. There aren't a lot of nice options in this area of DSM so this was a pleasant surprise. A bit hidden in a bit tired area, but parking and facilities were good. Breakfast area small but they've tried to remedy by expanding into a nearby corner by the front entrance. I wonder if this might be a cold area wintertime.
