This Marriott is improving from two years ago when we stayed there. There is major construction going on in the lobby. All the employees were well trained in customer service. The best part was the wait staff at the conference we attended. They were extremely nice and respectful. Rooms were comfortable but they needed some updating in the bathrooms.

I've stayed at the Des Moines Marriott for about 8 weeks (Sunday-Thursday) between July - Nov 2011. The free shuttle to the airport is good and is convenient. If it rains, they will take you and pick you up at downtown offices and restaurants. The beds are comfortable and they will replace feather pillows with foam upon request. There are hair dryers and ironing boards in each room - just look in the closets. The internet is expensive at 12 a day in the rooms. Free in the lobby. The concierge lounge staff is very friendly but food lacks.

They are currently starting a remodel of their lobby (late October) not sure when it will finish.

I spent two nights in this hotel this week and was materially underwhelmed. There is construction in the lobby, the elevators were the slowest I have seen and I was unable to get a professional quality speaker phone even after renting an additional meeting room in the hotel for just the speaker phone! We were told that the a/v team could accommodate our need but it never occurred.

This hotel has become my home away from home. I have spent over 5 weeks in this hotel. It is definitely one of the nicer places to stay in Des Moines. $19 parking/night is a little steep in my opinion when the prices for the hotel are what they are. The alcohol in the concierge lounge is not free even for the most elite like some of the other hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall this is a great place to stay for business. If on a trip for pleasure, there are cheaper hotels in the area that are nice and clean for much cheaper rates. Overall I would recommend staying here.
