I stayed here during a conference being held at Grand View University which is located a short distance away. I like several other reviewers was placed in the back building. I had a King room, and while there was a LCD tv and a comfortable king bed, the rest of the room was low quality. It was a very small room, barely enough room for the king bed, chair and desk. The bathroom had a low ceiling and was outdated. It appears this property used to be an AmeriHost. While nothing was inherently wrong with my stay it's just not what I'm used to from the Baymont brand.

Stayed here on a Saturday night for a concert. The room was a king sized suit on the top floor. They said it was the best room at the hotel. I stayed there just for the convenient location, The room was patched and repainted. The cable TV was fuzzy. The tub drain was plugged with standing water. The front desk clerks were very nice and accomodating. The hotel reminds me of a 1940s old hotel that needs to be completely remodeled. It is a victim of being changed from hotel chain to hotel chain once the hotel doesn't live up to it's standards.

We had a reservation at a different hotel and they gave our room away. So at 11PM we were looking for a room and the Baymont delivered. They were wonderful on the phone and had everything ready for us when we arrived. All we had to do was sign and get our key. They even up graded us to a king suite. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great 3 nights at the hotel. I would stay here again, infact the address is programmed into my favorites on the GPS! Great hotel for a great price!!

We stayed two nights while visiting the Ames/Des Moines area. The place is older (maybe an old Ramada) but is very clean and remodeled. The staff is very nice and helpful. The hair dryer did not work the first night but they provided a portable and then replaced the wall unit that day. We did have a noise issue in the room next door at 4:45 am but it was short lived. There are trains that you can hear during the night but they are not real close by. The breakfast is excellent for a lower priced unit with a very good selection from the standard waffle maker, plus donuts, real scrambled eggs and sausage links, dry cereals and biscuits and gravy for you southerners. The shower head is low for a 6'2" male but that is not that big of a deal.
