“Dont stay here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I stayed here while in town for Christmas. I stayed here for a few days. This place is not the place to stay. There were people partying in the parking lot late at night, lots of loittering in the parking lot and hall ways. The hallways stunk of marijuanna. There was lots of young people walking around the hallways drunk, same for in the parking lot. This is a very seedy hotel and I will never stay here again. The hotel is somewhat clean inside and the staff was okay, but their management either dont care whats going on in the hotel or is just too cheap to fix it. They need to hire a security guard or two, atleast for on the weekend nights. I think that would help tremendously. I wont stay here again unless they do, I didnt feel safe at all.

Oh yea, I almost forgot. On the day of my check out to large african american females got into a fist fight right outside the front doors. Wow.

Thank you for your time. I hope those reading the review note that no actual hotel issues existed. No hotel can control the public but we do our best and always will. Yes occasionally some people may not be whom we want in the building like any hotel and once they cause and issue we remove them. People "loitering" however is not and issue, no safety problems occured and feel bad if someone feels uncomfortable seeing groups of people but when you stay at a hotel you have a right to be in the public spaces with your party. Thank you again and do appreciate the clean room comment as well, since that is the one thing we have full control of.

“Travelodge Davenport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Stayed in a room on the ground floor at the back. There is a back door that I could have used, but couldnt be bothered to move the car.

Room is a bit tired, walls quite thin, could hear next door family shouting at each other to get up in the morning.
Hotel was full and busy, seemed to have quite a few long term residents. No problem with them though.
Room and bathroom clean and comfortable, tv, internet etc all worked fine. No issues.

Friendly ladys at checkout in the morning. Would stay again.

Thank you for your review. While we are and older building we have done much to keep it updated and appreciate any and all feedback. I know many guests praise us on site and have many frequent guests, sadly not many post to tripadvisor so glad you took the time.

“NEVER STAY HERE !!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

There are so many places to stay in Davenport Iowa ... don't choose this Travelodge ...

I had a very bad experience there.. Firstly they make you sign a contract from which they say there is no escape! if you want to check out and get a refund forget it.
Do Not enter into such a contract....make them show you the room first before you pay up..
On entry to this hotel the reception looks okay, and from the outside it appears okay, but beyond there its dispicable. The corridors smell of cigarettes and marajuara & the carpets are filthy. My room was filthy, the bedding was stained and soiled. The toilet was okay but the bathtub was unusable with dried dirty water sitting in it.
I had the need to complain at 1:30am due to shouting and abusive language and rapping music coming from the next room, there was no one on reception and all the exit doors were open. There were people coming in off the street during the night through side exits to the building and doors slamming.
I consulted the General Manager and asked for a refund. I left in fear after one night. I paid for 7 nights.
He said I had signed the contract and refused, I wasnt given a copy of this contract so how would I know. Do not believe the Managerial counter reviews on here (given above) as to the refund of money if your not happy with the accomodation.... I only wish I had read these reviews before booking.. everything you read here is true and worse.. and further more I will never use Travelodge again!!!!
This place needs reporting to the police. Im surprised Travelodge Corporate puts up with it.

Room Tip: Stay away from booking at this hotel

This particular guest chose not to try the hotel out or see a room first ( both choices they had) they wanted to get the absolute lowest price possible and entered and signed a contract that sadly if I could break it I would have but it states multiple times the terms that the guest signed, so saying never saw it was a blatant lie since who signs something and doesn't see it? Guests concerns when made complaint had nothing to do with cleanliness ( reading here was first I saw) they felt unsafe due to other guests whom did nothing wrong and had as much right to be there as this guest. I thank them for the review cause I do agree with them, don't blindly stay at a hotel long term without trying it out, may spend a little more but that piece of mind is worth it. And if guest stays one night and has and issue we will correct it no matter the cost, but cannot allow anyone to void a contract since not right to all those who are held accountable to what they sign. Contract also allows for complete refund if decide after hour the room is not for them, and we will gladly let anyone inspect a room before staying, we will also let you check a room just to see one, no stay required since we stand confident in our product and our incredible prices and service.

“If you're paying to stay here, you're paying too much”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

As a female in her early 20's traveling alone with a small dog, I felt unsafe staying here. Though the outer appearance and lobby area seem to be ok, the hotel has more of an apartment feel than a hotel, seeing as many of the guests appear to be extended stay customers who all know each other well. This started me off feeling uneasy. I walked to the very end of a long, narrow 2nd floor hallway to my room.

Very first glance, the room looked like a standard unimpressive motel room. Upon a slightly closer examination, the duvet had horrible stains all over it, the furniture had so many nicks in it that I thought maybe it had been thrown around a stairwell several times, and the bed was so hard my dog laid on the floor instead. When I went to latch the door, I noticed that the swing latch was screwed in on top, as it should be, but instead of a second screw, there was a bent bobby pin holding it in place. Not to mention the thin walls allowed me to hear everything going on in the other rooms.

I left shortly after I arrived and stayed in the nearby Baymont which was nice, safe, clean, and quiet. Upon calling Expedia for a refund, I was denied because Travelodge claimed they had no record of my complaints. I highly do not suggest staying here. Not even for a night.

Room Tip: Do not stay here

We are very sorry for the issues this guest found in the room and immediately remedied them upon seeing this review. Sadly when you book via Expedia and other 3rd party channels you are guaranteed no refund regardless of issues, Expedia may have put the blame on us but that is not the case, contracts with them are binding and if guest had simply asked a new room or upgrade would have been given right away to suit them, sadly many people don't think asking works, but in our industry a simple request goes a long way especially when the hotel takes the time to listen ( which we do not just on site but via reviews such as this one). Thank you again

“Do Not Stay Here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

I read the reviews on this hotel, but since we had friends staying here we did not listen. Big mistake!
When we arrived in the parking lot there seeemed to be some shady activities going on possible drug deals or prostitution. There are transient people living in the property. We would have left immediately if we hadn't confirmed our stay with a credit card. When we got to our room we realized we couldn't possibly stay at this hotel. We called the front desk and they agreed not to charge our card if we checked out. What a relief! The front desk clerk didn't seem surprised by our request to leave. I'm sure it happens often.
The hotel is scary and unsafe. I wouldn't even leave my car parked in this parking lot as I'm sure it would have been broken into.
Don't even bother wondering if this hotel is worth the cheap price. It's not.

Thank you for your review and was glad we handled you in a manner that you liked. Our porperty is very safe and saying your care would been broken into is offensive. in 34 years this hotel has never had a car broken into and no major safety issues. Reason the clerk allowed you to leave is customer service, we pride ourselves in doing all we can for our guests. If a guest is unhappy with us we do not argue with them we do what the guest requests in hopes they realize we are on top of everything and will always do all we can for them, even if it costs us money the guest comes first. We keep our grounds as safe as all other hotels in the area if not more so since we actually listen to all guests and take all issues to heart and fix them when applicable and have merit. Thank you again for your time.
