Wonderful place. You won't be disappointed! Very upscale, warm and inviting.

This hotel has historical marks within. It still keeps the mail tunnel by the elevator, used in the old days when people put the mails which slided down to the first floor. The rooms are clean. The room my husband stays is kinda awkward: The living room and the bedroom were back to back and look like folded together. I've never seen such structure before. Other than this, everything is nice and clean. The room service was good, too.
The man bartending (Mikoli) on the night of January 28th 2012 had the worst attitude I have seen in years and even worse drink mixing skills.
Steak sandwich and fries. Shrimp appatizer. Food rated (4/10 steak over cooked and dry) (Shrimp had good flavor and was served hot) Service: staff did not provided forks, napkins or ask if I would requier ketchup when delivering food; I had to find one of the wait staff and request these items. Still they did not bring them.
The poor attitude of the bartender (Mikoli) and his lack of skill combined with the lack of attention to detail and service by the wait staff makes this place rate a low 3 out of 10 with 10 = the highest mark possible.
To the management: spend less time in the back store room (yes, it is obvious what's going on) and conduct reviews and train your staff. Get a bartender whom has more experience and less attitude. Train wait staff to deliver flatware (fork, knife & napkin) with food and ask if the diner would like anything else.
Only redeming factor was the bartendress who could mix a drink and had a good disposition.
Total bill $98
Tip $23
The atmosphere was good, A really neat setting. Music was a bit loud and not in line with the average age (approx 35-45) that I saw there.
I will return again one more time in three months and try to post an updated to this review with a better outcome.
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Blackhawk back in November for our Anniversary. I was unaware that you could only write 1 review every 60 days on TA...so, after posting a pre-visit note - I'm just now able to tell everyone how much we really enjoyed this hotel!
I'm originally from the Quad Cities and have always know Hotel Blackhawk to be big and fancy, but always a little run down. Well, not after the renovation! I've never stayed in a Hotel this nice anywhere in the States, much less downtown Davenport! I'm sure this hotel would be right there in the running with some of your elite downtown Chicago hotels.
While we only stayed one night and didn't really spend a lot of time at the hotel...I can give a brief review on our experience.
Upon checking in we were greeted at the door and shown through the hotel to the check in area. Unlike your Holiday Inn's, Comfort Inn's, etc. - Hotel Blackhawk had a very nice, private desk with two seats where you could get off your feet and relax...they even offered us a drink! Once done checking in, the greeter showed us up to our room and then showed us around the room and some of the amenities...nice touch! We briefly visited the restaurant/bar where we grabbed a drink. I checked out the menu and everything looked really good, but we already had dinner reservations. We had a little time to kill and headed downstairs to just check out the bowling ally. I thought it had a lot of potential, but still being pretty early in the evening...it was pretty dead. For sure a place I would see myself in vs. a regular bowling ally.
As far as the room goes...they were very nice. Very comfortable bedding, nice in room fridge with bar, the TV in the mirror was pretty cool - we found ourselves standing in the bathroom watching it instead of watching the 32" TV in the room which was kind of funny.
Overall, much needed renovation was a success. Would for sure recommend to anyone staying for business or pleasure in the QC area.
Loved this hotel! One of the cleanest I've ever stayed at. The room smelled like fresh flowers and clean linen, but was not overpowering (i.e. the co-worker I travelled with has some serious allergies to scented products but had no issues). As an iPrefer member I was upgraded to a jacuzzi suite with a nice river view. The decor was sophisticated and modern. Rooms were very quiet, had I not frequently run into other guests on the elevator, I would have thought the hotel was almost empty. Parking was convenient, as was the location. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
