Lobby is in major restoration, with plastic walls everywhere. Apparently they had a water leak. I was told it should be all fixed within a week. Seemed to me like it would be a little longer. I accidentally took the wrong elevator to the second floor and was greeted by a plastic tarp in front of the elevator exit door. I could see the walls were bear woodwork. No drywall yet.
Had I known there were construction going on, I would have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express about 5 minutes away, which is very nice. No complaint about the room though; I was upgraded to a very nice suite. It was on the second floor, where some work was being done, but it didn't bother me; I did not hear any construction noise (didn't stay during the day though).
Wall insulation doesn't seem that good. I could hear my neighbor filling up his bath, and pretty noisy every time they would close their door.
You can walk to the Ameristar Casino and a couple of restaurants; no need to take the car. Parking might be an issue sometimes; there are 3 hotels next to each other; the Ameristar Casino and hotel; the Holiday Inn, and the Hampton Inn. So, depending on the time you arrive, you may have to park far away.
Overall, very nice hotel; will be better once renovation/fixing is finished. I'd come back here, but the Holiday Inn Express very close by was very nice as well, and did have free breakfast.

We stayed here with extended family including 4 kids aging from 1 1/2 up to 14 years old. Very family friendly hotel. Location was central to all the activities we wanted to do (Zoo, Children's Museum, Taste of Omaha, Old Market) The hotel has larger sized rooms with comfortable beds, clean rooms and common areas and everything you expect in a hotel room.
The pool was small, short on towels and smelled horrible. Not sure if it was because of the river (which was cresting for the summer flood) or if it always is like that.
We booked as a name your own price so got a great deal. Was a good value and worked for us!

The lobby and whole first floor had large industrial fans blowing and commercial dehumidifiers running due to a water line break on second floor. Then we found mold where they had ripped out carpet and trim around floor.
This should have been a bad omen but we ignored this and stayed anyways. At 2:00AM the fire alarms went off then stopped then on and off again, this continued until at least 3:00AM when we decided to leave.
The lady at the front desk was beside herself. The GM refused to come into the hotel to calm the crowed that had formed. Felt sorry for the poor clerk at the counter but no one left happy.
