My brother and sister-in-law were meeting my husband and I in Council Bluffs, IA. My sister-in-law booked a double room in April (6 weeks before we stayed) at the Heartland Inn through Orbitz. Her credit card was charged at the time of booking. My husband and I arrived at the hotel before my brother and his wife. When we checked in the clerk asked for my credit card. I thought this was strange since my brother had told me that his card had already been charged. I gave her my credit card, but asked my brother about it later. He went to the front desk to ask about it. He told the clerk that his credit card had already been charged for the room. She said that she was still going to charge MY credit card, and he could send her a copy of his credit card bill when he got home. My brother said, "No! That's not what's going to happen. You are going to remove the charge to my sister's card right now!"
The clerk proceeded to argue with my brother. He asked to see the manager and was told that she was not there. He then asked them to get her on the telephone. They did get the manager on the phone, and she told him the same thing. My card would be charged and he would have to send proof that his card had ALREADY been charged. He insisted that they remove the charge to my credit card, which they finally, and reluctantly did. I will be checking my credit card statement to make sure I was not charged for the room. BE CAREFUL if you book a room online from Heartland Inn Council Bluffs! You could be double billed!!
