When my husband and I were going to our hometown of Chicago to visit, we decided to stay at the Econolodge. We live in Michigan and have had nothing but good experiences at the Econolodges in Michigan. Thought it would be the same everywhere......NOT! The room was clean looking on the surface... When we were going to bed, I saw a bug on the wall. I had my husband to kili it. Then I saw two more......Finally i got up and picked my pillow up and saw too many to mention bedbugs all over the bed we were in. They were EVERYWHERE!!!!!! I had my toddler with us, and luckily she was asleep in her portable bed we brought with us. I immediately called the front desk to inform them of the bug issue. They said they would send the ON-SITE maintenence man to our room right away. I waited about 45 min with noone showing up. This time I went to the desk myself, with the desk attendant trying to give me a bottle of air freshner, thentry and convince me it was bug spray... I asked for another room, there was none available, they were all full. We had no where else to go, seeing as we paid our only money for this awful room. WITH NO SLEEP WHAT SO EVER....I waited for the manager to arrive the next morning (approximately 3 hours from the time I complained about the bedbugs.) SHe did not come in, I had to go back to the deskl to find out where the ONSITE maintenence man was. They finally sent him to the room. We had saved approximately 6 of the bugs we killed so that he could see. DO YOU KNOW HE HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT IF I FIND A LIVE ONE TO CALL BACK TO THE DESK.....I found a few live ones shortly after he left the room, and I politely collected them inot the ice bucket still alive. I then took the icebucket with the live bugs to the front desk. After all of this, the manager did not want to give me my money back for the room, because she says we stayed a night, but after she found out I brought thte live bugs to the desk I got my FULL REFUND of the money i paid...DO NOT GO HERE. MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE!!!!! I called to complain to the hotel after my visit never any response back fromn them.
