I decided on this hotel mainly for the waterslide for our kids. They had a blast, and the slide wore them out so that they slept well that night! HOWEVER, if you are looking for a nice, quiet night's sleep...you may need to look elsewhere. The room was very noisy from people in the hall, in rooms beside and above us, stairwell doors, etc. I know other reviews talk about the traintracks being noisy. We had a room on the back side of the hotel and we slept with the air running, and never heard a train. The breakfast was good. The breakfast area is kind of small, so it seemed cramped, but good selection. The room itself was good. The bed was VERY comfy. In regard to what is close to the hotel, there are a lot of shopping and places to eat within a mile.

We stayed at this venue for the University of Iowa Homecoming weekend. Nice hotel, and located right at the boarding site for the Hawkeye Express train to the stadium. Perfect location for football visitors. Be aware that it is a family hotel with a water slide so there are usually a lot of children on site. The complimentary breakfast is great and the hotel is right next to an IHOP if you are more inclined to a full menu choice. If you are staying on a game weekend, be prepared to pay a higher rate, but this is true of every hotel in the Iowa City/Coralville area on football game day.

We had a great stay at this hotel. The waterslide and pool were the perfect fun for our kids after hours in the car. The rooms were clean and quiet. The continental breakfast was good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families with children.

First off, we want to thank the management for being very receptive to our complaints (no sarcasm, they were very good). We would be remiss however in not warning future guests of the problems with this particular Comfort Suites. The RR tracks run right in front of this motel. Despite being assured of a quiet backside when we checked in, the trains running at night and in the wee morning hours are a real problem. Maybe if you are a deep sleeper, it isn't an issue. Also the lobby was being roughshod by kids using the pool area when we checked in on a Sunday afternon. We understand there is a fantastic slide out by the pool and that must be the highlight of this place. No need for further details as we should have just left. Our fault. RR tracks, too many kids, means time to find another place for quiet. The room was not without problems though and indicative of a place possibly getting worn out. The room was rather 'stuffy' and needed to be aired out. The shower/bath faucet could not be completely shut off resulting in a constant strong drip (not a slow 'drop by drop' but strong). This should have been flagged by the maids and fixed by maintenance before allowing guests. The fridge was rather noisy with a constant 'ticking' sound, almost like a loud clock (not normal running sounds). The safe was locked upon arrival and we could not use it when we went out to eat. Again, maids not flagging it for maintenance?? We will state again that management was very receptive, and it is appreciated, but this motel can not be recommended unless you have kids that love waterslides and everyone in the party is a deep sleeper. Hopefully you would get a better maintained room as well.
