We were pleased with the service and cleanliness of the hotel. Then at 10 o'clock at night our floor turned into a big play area (yelling, running, slamming doors) for 12 year old boys while parents sat by and watched. We understand how 12 year old boys can be, but the hotel let it go to far. Repeated calls to the front desk got little results until finally 30 minutes later, someone from security came up and gently asked someone that happened to be in the hall to please keep it quiet. So, if you need a good night of sleep and appreciate peace and quiet in your hotel stay, beware of this hotel!

The only thing I asked for when I booked was a room away from the railroad tracks. We traveled 5 hours. Our room was directly above the tracks!! I was told they were totally booked which was obviously a lie. Finally moved. Their LOUNGE did not serve what was advertised and their restaurant had 4 people in it at 7:30pm for a good reason. OVER priced and the menu was limited to about 7 items. Would not return to this hotel if it were FREE.

I had to change rooms 3 times to get it right during my stay. The first room wreaked of smoke or something terrible. The next room, the fan and A/C were not working, they came and fixed it but it broke again in the middle of the night. The final room was good. Clean, good view, quiet.

Beds were comfy, towels were plentiful. The only things I would have expected in this hotel but didn't get were bathrobes, higher end toiletries, and a bigger vanity.

Food from the restaurant was sub-par and over salted, however the staff up there were all very friendly and did a nice job with waiting on me.

Front desk was very good, and when I complained about the first two rooms they switched with out asking.

Free internet was WONDERFUL!

The true history of the hotel was explained by a bartender at a local bar. After the flood, the poor previous management, age, etc, it appears that the hotel is attempting to redeem itself. My room was recently updated, which meant new paint, carpet, beds and updated bathroom tiles, which was nice for being in a small town. The trains are another factor and routinly run next to the hotel at 4AM. All in all, not a bad hotel for being within walking distance of down town Ceadar Rapids, and there are not many other options.
