Very busy hotel located on Collins Road and is convenient for my business travel plans. I stay primarily at HI Express when I travel. This was especially noisy as there were a whole bunch of high school kids staying for a sports tourney in town. Lot of loud noises late in the evening and early morning. I told the front desk person about this when checking out, all she said was she hoped it would be better next time. At other HI Express hotels that I stay at, they have apologized for lesser things like a leaky faucet and have given me additional priority club points. This hotel also has an extremely small dining area and it was about impossible to get the continental breakfast with all the normal business travelers and then a large contingent of kids.

The hotel itself is clean and nice. The pool is small and the area around the pool small as well. The reason I am giving this hotel a poor rating is because the weekend we stayed there was two large groups staying at this specific hotel and the way we were treated was not acceptable. I also saw the way the other group was treated and felt that neither groups were treated with kindness and respect. The hotel seemed overbooked and there was fighting from both groups for rates that had been pre arranged. Also they did not have adequate staff that weekend. There was only two people up at the front desk and one was still in training and of no help to us. This person was unable to answer any questions. Overall we would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends/family.

My company booked this room for my husband & myself so as we were going to a convention right next door at the mariott & they were booked. The staff were very friendly & helpful & our room was beautiful. at the door, the bathroom was on teh left hand side & had a very good size bathtub, the king size bed was next & there was a divider in between the couch & TV but the flat screen moved so u could either watch tv at the couch or in bed. They upped our rate $10 because we needed a fridge & microwave but it was well worth it! We had a great time & are very satisfied! if we ever go back to Cedar Rapids, we will definitely have to check this out again :)

I was traveling with another person on a business trip. I booked the Holiday Inn Express because I'm usually very satisfied with them. The hotel is in an easy location to find and there are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. When we checked in, the desk clerk was very nice and helpful. I told her I had lost my Priorty Club card, she looked my account up so my points could be applied. She also asked me if I had any special needs such as late checkout. Both my traveling companion and I were given rooms on the third floor. When I entered my room, I was very disappointed. The room was very plain. It had a television that must have been fifteen years old sitting on an old chest. The TV did have plenty of cable channels. There was not a fridge in the room which most Holiday Inn Express have. The room was heated and cooled by the old style system that's in front of the window. This type of heating and cooling system where the air blows continually and there is no way to regulate the temperature is a real pain. There were two queen beds in the room. One bed was neatly made and the bed shirt looked like it had been ironed. The other bed was another story. The top was neat but the bed skirt was a wrinkled mess and it was half on. The bathroom was large and there were plenty of towels. The water pressure in the shower was good with plenty of hot water.

My traveling companion stated when he entered his room the television was on and at first he thought someone was in the room. He did state that his television appeared to be brand new. He stated that his room had a pen and other items laying on the floor and his mirror in the bathroom was dirty. He also stated he did not sleep well because he could hear every sound the people were making next door to him. I did not have anyone next to me on either side so it was very quiet.

The next morning they had a good assortment of breakfast items. The problem was that the tables were very close to the food stations so if you were sitting at a table eating, people who were getting their food were standing right beside you. I decided to get my food and take it to my room .

I didn't use the swimming pool but it looked to be acceptable. They did have a nice patio area where you could sit outside when the weather was nice. The workout room was very small and the equipment looked old so I decided not to use it.

The hotel was okay for an overnight stay for business but I would not want to stay there on a vacation.
