I booked a room online for one night in September 2011 (paid in full). I was traveling alone and it was my first time to Iowa. I was concerned about them not holding my room because my flight came in around 1am, so I called a week in advance to confirm my reservation and let them know I would be checking in late. I spoke to a nice woman on the phone who confirmed my reservation and said my late check in would be fine. When I actually showed up (around 2am), with my confirmation number in hand, the guy at the desk denied I had a reservation with them. I showed him my confirmation info and we verified I was at the right place but he did not honor my reservation and told me they were completely full for the night. I asked for a refund but all he did was take down my cell number to call me the next day. I never got a refund and ended up having to walk down the road to another hotel and pay again (yup...single gal walking at 2:30am in a completely unknown city/state the rain with a suitcase). HomeTown Inn down the street matched HoJos price, gave me a king sized bed, and were much more pleasant to work with.
