I don't understand all the negative reviews. Checked in last night around 10:30pm with Angie, who was pleasant and helpful. My family travels the country for a living - staying in 50+ hotels every year. This HoJo is exactly the type of hotel we prefer - inexpensive, but with plenty of perks.

Our room (2 beds) is clean and spacious! The AC works extremely well. The bathroom is also clean. Would have preferred that our room have a micro/fridge, but that's never a deal-breaker. There is a microwave in the breakfast area.

Standard continental breakfast, nothing fancy, but it's decent fare. Since I see the manager reads these reviews - perhaps some yogurt or muffins at breakfast in the future? :)

The free WiFi is plenty fast - it looks as though you can pay an additional fee through the login page to double the speed, but I did not opt for this.

Hotel features a fitness room, Pepsi products, a fantastic TV lineup, and is a great bang for your buck. It is a shame that the hotel industry as a whole took such a hit from the bedbug epidemic, and that fine hotels such as this one suffered the ire of upset customers.

This is an excellent change from most chain hotels. Angie and her staff truly care about your comfort and convenience. I would recommend you give it a try any enjoy true hospitality at its finest. I will be back next week for business travel.

In Cedar Rapids on business for several weeks. When I arrived here the front desk was very friendly and nice. I got checked in and made my way up to my room. As I was walking to my room through the hallway, I noticed that it had not been vaccumed in quite some time, and that there was a trail of cheerios I assume from breakfast earlier that day. Also, the hallway smelled like a sweaty gym locker room, or like a pair of sneakers that should be thrown away. Got to my room, which was non smoking, and just as everyone keeps saying, it smelled like a smoker's convention had been held in it before my arrival. Which is not good, because the smell will literally ruin your clothes and anything else that you have in there with you. Lots of noisy people "hanging out".. T.V.'s turned all the way up.. Thuggish looking people just milling aroung the hallways at all hours.. Its almost like these people are friends of the staff, since they all seem to get along with each other.. Day three of my stay? Cheerios from when I checked in still in the same spot in hallway, but only a little more crumbled now from the hall walkers. They just don't clean here, period. I have more, but the bottom line is.. Do yourself a favor and pay ten more dollars for a place next door that actually cares a little more about their customers

This hotel was not worth the value - I stayed only because we checked in so late that we were tired and needed sleep. The room looks like a cell - concrete walls painted yellow and very small... the red carpet is covering a lumpy concrete floor. The beds are questionable - and the pillows are lumpy as others stated. None of the local networks would come in on the TV. The one good thing was the toilet paper was quality.
