While this is a pet friendly motel, they do insist you take a smoking room when you bring your dogs. They did air it out as best they could, and while it did not reek of smoke, there was a slight, stale smoke smell. It did not ruin our stay, and the bed & linens did not smell. I liked that it backed up to a neighborhood, as we walk our dogs twice a day, and there was a nice walking trail fairly close to the hotel.

I've stayed here several times and it is my preference because they still offer a couple smoking rooms AND you can open the windows in the room - huge plus. Room 51 is very cool, especially in the summer, it looks over someone's lovely garden and yard. Make sure you double confirm your reservations - they sometime have a problem with getting you to the right room even when you specify.

My daughter is a student at UNI and had to stay in Cedar Falls for a couple of days after school was out so she stayed at University Inn for a couple of days. She was by herself so I was looking for someplace safe. She enjoyed her stay, said the room was great, she felt safe, the front office staff was friendly and the location was perfect. She would definitely stay there again. I made the reservation for her from out of town and the staff was very cordial and helpful in helping me get her set up. Very happy with the experience.

I stayed here with a few friends in March. We went to a concert in Cedar Falls and then headed back to our room after. It was nice because the hotel was only about a 1/2 mile from the venue. Also, the room was very comfortable and the people were nice. We didn't have enough towels but all we had to do was ask. I'd definitely recommend it for the price.
