“The nicest people, beautiful rooms, clean and best value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2011

I had taken my grandkids and there parents to funcity. The Holiday Inn Express was the best place to stay. The rooms were beautiful and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. Smiles everywhere. WE had a great time and the Holiday Inn Express made it that much better. Thank you very much and we will be back many times more now that we know how much fun we all can have together and a great place to rest afterwards.

“This place is great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

We were here in November. I'd read the reviews here on TA and was leery, but went ahead and booked. I am so glad we stayed there. We were very impressed with the quality of the room, the courtesy of the staff and the cleanliness of the room. We've stayed in several places-Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, Raleigh, Chicago, New York, Columbia SC....no where have I been this impressed from the time we walked in to the time we left. I had to contact the manager once about a concern and it was resolved, no problem.

I do have one complaint, and it is about guests than the hotel-because the hotel addressed the problem as soon as I called. And this has been a problem when we've stayed in Burlington at the Fairfield Inn and Catfish Bend.

What makes you parents think it is OK to let your children behave like idiots because they're at a hotel? Be it beating on your door, running around and slamming into things in the room, yelling and shouting in the room all evening long-and the hallway, and just plain acting out. Do you think you're all alone? That no one else is in the hotel?

In this case if you're driving a minivan from Wisconsin and were there in November, I'm talking to you.

I'd like for hotels to hand out rules about noise and disturbing other guests when they see a parent with a group of poorly disciplined kids check into the hotel. Had this gone on-and again this front desk addressed it-I was ready to call the police.

Anyway, this place was great. I would recommend it and I will stay here again, and look forward to it.

Also, they had a nice pool that was clean and open. The business center had a PC with a printer that worked, so I was able to print my airline boarding passes without a hitch. Nice to have a PC that is not so infested with crapware it does not work-like a lot of places.

The free wireless internet worked perfectly. BIG kudos for this.

“Do not stay here”

We took a trip to fun city and the casino for a fun get away weekend. It was not a good trip at all. At first the air conditioning in the hotel would not work so when I called the front desk to switch rooms, they told me sorry I was out of luck because they had no other rooms available. After I said that was unacceptable, they mysteriously found a room but said they could not offer a discount for my troubles because I prepaid. Once again I insisted and they found a way to make it happen. The next day(we were staying two nights) the assistant manager called my cell phone and asked what time we would be checking in tonight. I was like, we are already here, I have spoken to you like four times and she said I must have booked a room twice because the computer said I made an online reservation that money, I told her that computer was wrong, I did not even have access because I was in the stupid hotel the whole time. She said I was wrong but she would fix it. The hotel is nice but the service is terrible.

“Would not recommend staying here! Look somewhere else!!”

I used priceline and checked in around 9:00 PM with my daughter (8) and another young child (6). The manager asked for my credit card, which I thought was odd since I had reserved on priceline and mentioned that, I was puzzled and she acted like there was no such reservation. Still puzzled, I asked for a rollaway and the manager said, "Oh it looks ilke you might have your hands full, huh?." (Indeed they were, with bags and again 2 children) she sent me up with a rollaway, didn't bother to ask if I needed assistance. Then when checking out, still questioning the credit card situation, I asked another employeed about making sure they didn't run my credit card explaining again that I had reserved the room on priceline. I got no where fast, so I checked later that day and indeed they did charge my card. The cleaning crew was awesome and very friendly, I wish I could remember the woman's name. The breakfast was great, but the management, a big thumbs down.

“Best Service Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

I booked a room for my family and when I arrived, they stated that they do not have that room available. They then gave us two rooms at the one low price. I paid $85 per night for TWO rooms. I have been here three times and every time it gets better and better. The hotel is going through renovations right now, but you will not even notice. It is right across the street from the Fun City Amusement Park. I would definitely stay here again.
