“comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

We've stayed here for a few days this year, and also last year when we were visiting our son in the area. The setting is not so nice....surrounding by parking lots!! The pool is out there, too! We didn't use it, so can't rate that. Overall, pretty clean, if a bit older building. Room was clean, no ants, no bugs, no hair laying around as some noted. We did pass an obvious smoking room, as it reeked in the hall outside that door, but our room smelled ok (nonsmoking). Breakfast was pretty good, too; staff was friendly. We didn't spend much time in the hotel, basically just to shower and sleep...and it suited our purposes great. After reading bad reviews mixed with good reviews on hotels in this area, we decided to stick with the one we'd been in before, as we knew it would be ok!! We weren't disappointed! Would stay here again, too.

“worn, smokey and dated”

Front desk was very helpful.Room was clean except for the carpet. Bed comfortable- pillows really small. Remote ac was cool. Enjoyed the microwave and mini fridge Wireless worked fine and was free. Breakfast was typical hotel hot buffet . Two complaints- Half of the hotel was smoking and all of the hallways were rank with smoke smell! The ceiling had leaked and the carpet was wet beneath the leak- looked to be that way for quite some time.Hotel offered no compensation for wading in smelly carpet.

“average”

The usual thing you would expect from a property in the $50-$60 range. A little mold in the shower, yucky stains on the bathroom wallpaper. The room is a nice size so you at least don't feel too trapped. Iron and ironing board in the room which is nice but the iron could use a good cleaning. Curved shower rod which is always a plus for me. A micro and fridge in room which would be handy if you were going to be here more than overnight and is an unexpected bonus at this price range. Breakfast is the average cereal, toast, and pastries. I can't say I would want to stay here again but I would if I had to.

“Mid-range, decent value.”

The Quality Inn on Kirkwood in Burlington, IA is a fine middle-of-the-road motel. All of the staff was very nice. It is centrally located in Burlington less than a block from the intersection of highways 34 and 61. The $10 per pet surcharge is a little steap for such a mid-grade motel. The place is a little aged and thus ragged around the edges, but everything was both clean and functional. The place DOES offer a military discount which is nice. Overall, you get a lot of amenities for just a few dollars.

“Somewhat small, but can get some great rates”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2006

Was the "Comfort Inn," has been recently renamed the "Quality Inn." This is your basic mid-level hotel. All areas we saw were very clean. It does allow pets for a $10/night charge. Is convenient to area, at the intersection of Hwys. 34 and 61. It is also within walking distance of the new "Fun City Water Park." Average decor, I think it has been recently renovated but nothing fancy. You can request rooms with a fridge and microwave which is handy. There is an outdoor pool, which is not worth the walk - think "large bathtub." Rooms are clean although somewhat small. There is also high speed internet access! The breakfast is somewhat small, but does include homemade biscuits and gravy which was a nice surprise. The breakfast area is very small and is the only "lobby." Lots of restaurants nearby - the local Chinese buffet is average. Ask for directions to El Taco Casa - excellent Mexican food near a nice put-put golf course. Manager is not friendly - not rude - but doesn't go out his way either. Price range around $65, but if you go to the website and request "Internet User Rate" it will get you down to $55. Also, some gas stations and truck stops in a 50 mile radius will carry those travel magazines and my mother-in-law found one for $35/night!! Definitely worth the trouble. Overall, nothing fancy, but good value for the price.
