“smelly rooms....bad customer service!!!”

came here to stay with family for a wedding and was supposed to be charged $95 for our room...the whole family was for their rooms. the customer service agent who gave my sister a tour told her that. she also told her that the meeting room was free for us to use with paid rooms. the morning after the wedding, my sister had breakfast catered in and we all met in the meeting room to eat when the hotel manager tells my sister that because we were using the room, then she would be charged $150!!!! after talking to my other family members, we also all realized that they charged each one of us different prices for our regular rooms! my nephews father almost got into a fight with this manager to get what my sister was told during the tour of the hotel (the $95 rooms and free meeting rooms) on top of that, the rooms were really smelly--the second floor smelled like a mix of cabbage and cigarettes.

I stayed here for 1 night while visiting family in Wabash. It seemed to be the nices hotel in town with a pool. I had my four year old with me, so a pool was important. The pool was nothing special, but clean. The rooms were the same. The hotel is in a convienent location, neaar grocery store and some restaurants. I would definitley stay here again when visiting Wabash.

“SMOKE SMELLING ROOMS, UNKEPT POOL, NICE BREAKFAST,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2011

We stayed at this location this past weekend due to a Softball Tournament. It is conveniently located across from a Wal mart. One of the families in our group had booked a NON-Smoking room. Which means you would NOT like your room to smell like smoke. The room they got on the 3rd floor to be exact smelled like an ash tray. If you were to stay here be 100%SURE you demand that you are given a room that has not been smoked in. The front desk was notified and she was told that employees would get an air purifier going to clear the smell. It DID NOT clear the smell. So this was pretty upsetting. When you book a non smoking room, it should of not been smoked in!
The swimming pool DOES NOT look like it is taken care of. It is missing all kinds of tiles from the walls and it looks like black mold/mildew is growing on the sides...Pretty unsanitary in my opinion. The lady in the breakfast area was VERY friendly. The breakfast area is VERY small. You get pastries, hardboiled/scrambled eggs/,toast, bagels, english muffins, yogurt, juice, milk, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate. The pancake machine was out of order as was their internet. So don't count on that working!
The rooms were nice BUT the sheets were pretty stained and the blanket put at the foot of our bed had crusty nasty looking stuff on it. In your room you will find and envelope that asks you for a tip. I found that to be pretty tacky considering you already pay 114 for your stay. I think I have covered about all their is to cover about the place.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a non smoking room.

“Good and some not so good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2011

There are some good and some not so good in this review. Some of the bad was beyond the control of management, but I will add it none the less.
The bad first: 1) As a platinum member I was not upgraded to a better room. I was informed that the hotel was sold out. It was bad for me, but they could not help it that the hotel was sold out. 2) There was a softball tournement the next day so the hotel was full of kids that were running and yelling in the hallway. They had kids laying in the elevator. Again, the management had their hands full so I understand that they couldn't be on every floor to be hall monitors. Shame on the parents of these kids. 3) The hotel only has one very small elevator at the end of the hotel. It really stinks if you get a room on the other end of the hotel. 4) The beds were very uncomfortable. The pillows were the only thing good about the beds. The beds were hard and lumpy. Very disappointed with that.
The good: 1) They have an awesome staff. No issues with any of them on this trip. 2) Breakfast was better than I had planned. They had dry cereal, yogurt, bagels, pastries, cheesy eggs, biscuits and gravy, and toast. Plenty of coffee, juice, and milk. 3) We had a 2 queen room. The room had a lot of space which we were very happy about. 4) A very large fridge and a microwave was a nice touch to our room.

“Nice stay on a cold snowy night.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

We planned to attend a B.B. King concert in Wabash at the Honeywell Center on January 11, 2011. Living a little over 100 miles away and knowing that winter weather can hit at any time in Indiana we booked a room at the Wabash Holiday Inn Express.
The first thing I want to say is that the place is hard to actually get to. You have to drive through a strip mall parking lot with a Kroger store at the east end. The entrance road to the Holiday Inn was not marked very well (maybe due to blowing snow) and is on the north end of the Kroger store. You can see the Holiday Inn from across the parking lot though.
The check-in was easy, no problems at all. Our room was on the third or three floors. The way the building is arranged was somewhat strange. The elevator, and there is only one, is located at the north end of the building. There are no stairs or elevators in the middle of the building. At the south end of the building, which was close to our room there are stairs but no elevator. There is only parking on the west (front ) and some on the north side of the building.
The room is large enough to get around in without tripping over furniture. We had a king sized bed which was comfortable. There is a desk with a chair and a comfortable side chair with hassock. The heating system worked well and was quiet. There is a microwave and mini refrigerator as well as an ironing board with iron and a hair dryer in the bathroom.
There is an open closet to hang items with maybe six hangers. The dress has two large drawers. The bathroom is large enough to not trip over yourself while in it. It would be crowded with two people in it though.
They have a pool on the main floor but we did not use it or the fitness area although both appeared to be clean and usable.
There is a breakfast in the morning which was surprisingly diverse. Cheese omelets, biscuits with sausage gravy, bread and bagels with a toaster, yogurt, danish, cereal, condiments, coffee and juice. We found the breakfast pretty good and filling.
It was brought to our attention that there is a business center but we did not use or look at it so I can't say anything about it.
They have wireless internet that was quick and easy to access in the room. Each time you turn on your laptop you have to log back on though.
Overall the experience was pleasant and devoid of any drama. While checking Trip Advisor before booking it looks like the options are limited if you want to stay in Wabash. On paper this seems to be the best value for you money with other places being way too high and others being somewhat iffy.
One piece of advice I would offer the owners is to tone down or get rid of the "If you steal our towels you will get charged $xx more than they could possibly be worth" signs or the $100.00 smoking fee sing or some of the other little digs.
Had very little interaction with the staff but they all were friendly.
