I stayed in the Econo Lodge for 3 weeks while in Terre Haute for work. My original plans had me staying here for 6 weeks, however, the room was so dirty and I felt so unsafe walking to and from my vehicle, I made plans to stay at a different hotel 3 weeks into my trip. My bath tub was filthy and not cleaned for the first 2 weeks of my trip. My sink was filthy, and leaked. My carpet was hardly ever swept. I ran out of toilet paper, toiletries, my coffee was never refilled and several nights I had to park around the block away from my room due to limited parking spaces. When I made arrangements to check out, I phoned the front desk to inform them that I would be checking out earlier than anticipated. They informed me that they would be raising my nightly rate because they had quoted me an "extended stay" rate and since I was checking out early, it didn't apply. I stayed 3 weeks so I'm not sure what constitutes an extended stay. I informed them that I was leaving due to the fact that the room was filthy. The lady I spoke to informed me that they have never received complaints about their cleaning staff and that I should have notified her when I checked in that I would need a varied cleaning schedule. I stated that I did not need a different cleaning schedule, I needed a person who would thoroughly clean my room. The conversation ended by me stating that fine, I would pay the increased rate just to be done w/ this hotel. I will NEVER stay here again.

About the only thing this place has going for it is a good location near the interstate, and decent rates. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. In fact, next time I was in Terre Haute a month or so later, I stayed elsewhere.

I reserved a non-smoking room ahead of time on choicehotels.com, and indeed the plaque on the door said non-smoking, but there were ashtrays in the room and it reeked of smoke. When I complained to the young lady at the front desk, she was very accommodating and gave me another room. It was smoke-free and of average cleanliness, but the air conditioning did not work well at all, and it had been unseasonably hot that day. The AC unit strained and strained and did not succeed in sufficiently cooling the room down. Plus I found the beds to be uncomfortable.

If you can sleep under most any condition, you might like this place. But it was one of the worst experiences I've had in awhile and when I was back in Terre Haute for a night about a month later, I voted with my wallet and chose the Days Inn, a much better experience.

Stay here during the truck Extravaganza, property has been updated alot since last year really has made alot of improvements. Great Staff Will difinetly stay here again when in the area.

Simply put: The place was unacceptable to anyone. It was not just rundown which if clean, is ok. This horror was dirty, smelly, thin sheets and towels, holes in wall,door, etc. Terre Haute should shut it down on sanitary reasons. Need I say more. I travel extensively and stay in discount lodging, but have not had this bad an experience before.
