“good commencement weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

At the quasi last minute, I decided to attend my brother-in-law's graduation from ISU. Happily for me, Sycamore Farm had space-- in fact, I was the only guest. Word simply hasn't gotten out that this is a more way interesting lodging option than, say, the Hilton Garden Inn (at the same price). The place is country cute with some very nice touches-- bottled Indiana spring water, yummy nibbles in the room, Gilchrist & Soames bath products, free wi-fi, bathrobes, and, most importantly, strong black coffee. Is Sycamore Farm perfect? No, few places are. But it is a thoroughly enjoyable place to stay in Terre Haute.

“Homey B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2010

Very cute farmhouse inn. Friendly service, great breakfast with local ingredients. The 'hideaway room' comes with its own bathroom and access to a great little outdoor reading porch. If you mind road noise, ask for a room at the back of the house.

“Second trip, and another wonderful stay!”

Our first stay at Sycamore Farms was so wonderful, there was no question where we would stay the next time we were in Indiana! Once again, the rooms were spotless, the food delicious, and the staff was warm and welcoming. You can't ask for better! And when my boyfriend forgot his (brand new, foolishly expensive) charger for his iPad in the room after we had left, we sent Marilyn an e-mail and the charger was mailed to us within a few days. It doesn't seem like much, but small details like that matter. I will stay here again and again!

“You will enjoy your time at the Sycamore Farm Bed & Breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2008

We arrived at the Sycamore Bed & Breakfast at roughly six o’clock on Sunday night (after a small stint with some construction that was taking place on Poplar Road). The innkeeper Marilyn, who was very friendly, greeted us.

After a brief tour of the home, which had a lot of character (and many beautiful rooms), Marilyn took us up to our room and went through the some useful details (make sure to duck when you take the back staircase). We stayed in the Master Room, which was simple and beautiful. Attached to this room is a small patio with a table and two chairs. Fortunately, the weather was amazing and cool for an August evening, and we took full advantage of this outdoor space.

After unpacking, we went to dinner, and then returned to the bed and breakfast. We stopped and spoke with Marilyn before we headed back to our room. My fiancé started talking about how we found this place, and that he had an orientation the following morning at Indiana State University. He is extremely passionate about Colonial History and is getting ready to start graduate school this fall (hence the reason that we came down), and another reason of why we choose this place to stay. We ended up finding out that Marilyn had also attended Indiana State University in the History Graduate Program.

Kevin went downstairs to order two glasses of wine, which were quite delicious. He and I just enjoyed our time sitting out on the patio sipping our wine and engaging in some conversation.

The following morning we awoke the smell of breakfast cooking. Our breakfast was delicious and Marilyn even left us a card with some more “insider” information about the History Department and some Professors that Kevin may enjoy taking courses. We loved our experience at the Sycamore Bed & Breakfast and I know that we will be back again in the near future.

  • Liked — The innkeper Marilyn was fantastic!
  • Disliked — The back narrow staircase.
